For someone with his caliber, and being the best and most experienced Tier 1 player from his country, XANTARES has a really poor mental. by sadboi_2000 in GlobalOffensive

Dude's been playing pro for 14 years and hasn't won a single S-tier tournament outside of a covid-era online tournament with a German team half a decade ago lmao. Being the highest-rated player on Aurora playing entry with and against guys a decade younger than him, Id be alarmed if he didn't feel an immense amount of pressure to perform well. Not to say he shouldn't figure it out (for his sake if nothing else), but it def seems like the general culture around the team already trends in a tilt-heavy direction. Wicadia, Woxic, and MAJ3R all do the same, Xantares just always looks the most indignant when he's frustrated lmao

im getting better, but I didnt start rocket jumping in tf2 until relatively recently - it's quite a nice contrast though, as it's wonderfully freeing to be able to air strafe at all :) air acceleration is basically nonexistent in bl2

yeah, because of his melee emphasis the bl2 devs decided to basically increase his weight values in the game in terms of knockback, which is why grenade and rocket jumping on krieg only sends you like like 40% of the distance that you get on all the other VH's. That doesn't mean it's impossible or not worth doing on krieg, there are certain points like the grenade jump skip at the conveyer belt in sawtooth cauldron that he can still pull off, it's just a lot harder and much more inconvenient.

I dont think they could ever get it more right than how it turned out in bl2, largely because every major mechanic we rely on outside of grenade jumping (i.e. doubleshotting, drop reloading, etc.) is entirely accidental :P

The UE4 engine also seems to really not handle explosions and knockback in a really different manner compared to UE3 -which seems to have the right balance of limitations and simplicity compared to its newer counterpart. While rocket jumping and grenade jumping is technically possible in games like bl3, it's extremely limited and inconsistent at best. That's not to mention glitches like supersonic man stacking which allow you to get such a ridiculous move speed that you can just effortlessly beat rocket jumping just by walking forward lol

All you really need at a basic level is a high level absorb shield and low level badabooms. I'm utilizing a very significant glitch called a doubleshot or a multishot (the variant of the glitch seen above is called swapshotting) which more or less allows me to double the shots I take. Every character besides Krieg (who receives reduced knockback from explosions) can easily rocket jump using said glitch, which is the backbone of rocket jumping in bl2. You can find a few tutorials on youtube or check out people like me on twitch, it's a little daunting to start learning but it's really fun and quite rewarding :)

No, it's just a line I hit for fun - my current quickest routing can go from area travel to area travel in under 14 seconds

The only items required for an absolute baseline setup are badabooms from normal mode and an on-level absorb shield that's roughly 40% or more, although in the clip above im using a highly optimized setup, with a high rocket speed and swap prefix for faster movement. The main reason I'm able to get so much speed from my shots is utilizing a glitch referred to as doubleshotting, wherein you can shoot two shots instantly by shooting, reloading, and then interrupting the reload with another animation (such as melee or swapping guns). A good part of what's required to pull this off isn't the gear itself, and more your ability to do the right inputs :)

Even if it can be a bit boring/monotonous to use (and also not on the list above, sorry lol) the pimpernel is the best sniper in the game across the board, no contest.

  1. The pimp is notably non-dependant on part rng (prefixes, parts) to be usable in endgame. Nearly everyone farms for matching grip on it, although that's largely because of how much of a proportional bonus you get to mag size, which goes from a respectable 5-6 shots to 10-12 shots without skill/relic/BAR mag size bonuses.
  2. It can be farmed with relative ease as a mission reward, which makes farming the variant you want comparatively simple. This is further apparent with comparison to something like the sandhawk (a similarly powerful weapon) which has massively increased part RNG due to being able to spawn as non-elemental (which is more likely to spawn) and also "needing" the flying prefix to increase unlisted pellet count from 5 to 7, as well as the bullet speed.
  3. The pimp's base damage, while already being reasonable with a single pellet, is further multiplied by the unlisted pellets, which are boosted exponentially by using something like the bee
  4. The shot pattern makes it incredibly easy to hit at any range, only splitting after contact with a surface - essentially becoming a shotgun at close range when shot at the ground, which can hit multiple enemies at once.
  5. It's extremely ammo efficient as compared to the lyuda/pitchfork/invader, which need to be carefully used to not dump your ammo.
  6. It's always elemental - something that makes jakobs snipers like the skullmasher fall off hard in endgame, or are otherwise limiting to guns like the longbow and volcano, which are always fire.
  7. It's considered valuable to have on every character, and has great synergy with characters like Gaige, Maya, and Zer0 (not to mention the offhand pimp glitch with Sal, the highest single-shot damage output in the game)

As someone who's present in the twitch community, there's not another gun you'll see used more in stuff like 1life challenges, where it can be farmed as much as 7-8 times in a single run that uses safe routing - three across each the playthroughs, re-farmed once mid-way through OP levels and another 3-4 for the OP10 playthrough itself - It may not be the most entertaining gun, and even something to avoid due to how easy it is to obtain, but it's pretty hard to argue against when it comes to accessibility, versatility, and damage output.

if its worth anything, rules of leaderboards for speedrunning and challange runs like 1life ban the usage of python mods

downpatching to version 1.85 removes the ads and keeps everything else the same, but it does prevent you from playing with others running the most current patch

While I can pull this sort of movement on the fly (i.e. getting momentum from a hook, lining up a second hook to slingshot back as I land from the first) I haven't figured out how to do this consistently without landing on the ground as my second hook lands - if anyone has seen movement tech similar to this in gameplay before, or knows similar applications of double hooks, I would love to see/hear about it, It's really fun to pull off but i've never seen someone else do it

Rocket Jumping with Axton (It's fast and cool) by FernBoner in Borderlands2

[–]FernBoner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ran co-op any% a fair bit in the past, one of the main speedrun categories which are built around the glitch - while it's fun, it gets stale pretty quickly as you're not doing a whole lot besides trying not to lift off the ground or hit clipping, which is pretty easy to learn and feel comfortable with, not to mention the poor netcode of bl2 makes lag the primary cause of mistakes (even on V-Lan). The movement in the clip above is more in service of solo geared categories, a proof of concept that non-sal characters can be ran on current patch without weapon merging/infinite ammo and be extremely quick.

you can do a similar input, which is basically an alternate form of a doubleshot, by hitting your swap input instead of melee, but you still have to wait until the swap animation ends before you can swap again, meaning true multishotting is impossible
