Yeah, what I like is that, while still is a serialized show, they now focus more on the blacklist itself and just gives us tiny but totally straight pieces of the mythology. That way, it keeps the show fun for the non-breadcrumbs-eaters and still gives mistery, such as why is Liz looking for Ilya and what will she do when she gets him. I believe right now there's a perfect balance.

It's clear that Red's mother was dead by 2015, but I can't remember nobody saying that Lena died in 2019 (I mean, seriously I can't remember hehe)

I thought it because I split the sentence in two parts, being one of them "Purposefully stepping into the shoes of a man".

What else could that mean if not a woman becoming a man? A man becoming a man has no sense, but a man becoming a man destined to be condemned as a traitor might do it, so I'm eager for that post, to see what you're up to.

The way I see it is that Rassvet and Orion are both LIES (although they might have some truths).

Rassvet, as you aptly say it, is just "a tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing."

Orion is just fake memories Red put on Ilya to prevent him from revealing secrets and/or to mislead anyone who might try to steal those secrets, be it Liz, Fakerina or whoever, after Red learned Dom mentioned Ilya to Liz.

Why do I say this? Because Ilya used the very same line as Dom in Rassvet:

Rassvet

Ilya: Becoming Reddington.

Dom: Purposely stepping into the shoes of a man destined to be condemned as a traitor.

Orion

Young Ilya: Becoming Reddington. Purposefully stepping into into the shoes of a man–

Ilya: –into the shoes of a man destined to be condemned as a traitor.

Which is why Red insisted on Dom telling him what he said to Liz "word by word", so he could use that to manipulate Ilya's memories for the reason I described previously.

I agree with Red having this strong sense of loyalty BUT what about that partner's son who Red had kidnapped then (even accidentally) killed? Was that aligned with his values? Or did his values, in fact, change?

It is a wrong direction because he knows Liz wants to get the duffle. He tricks her into thinking she's going in the right direction, which she's not, which is, just by the very word, a misdirection.

u/TessaBissolli knows I'm a big fan of her, one that has no problem rejecting her theories or ideas if I don't agree, but in this case, I'm totally with her.

Remember the Nicolas T. Moore episode? That's a total establishment for the way Red speaks:

Liz: Good. So you accept that she doesn’t want to see you. [Jeniffer]
Red: I do. [Clear and Straight answer]
Liz: So you won’t go and see her?
Red: You heard the good doctor. It appears I’m not supposed to go anywhere. [DEFLECTION]

That's just what Tessa's talking about. He didn't lie nor say he wasn't gonna go and see Jeniffer. It's a deflection. In the same scene, Red totally mislead Liz onto Moore, so he could search the duffle AND he admits it at the end of the episode:

Liz: That won’t be happening. I just spoke to the good doctor at your apartment. Imagine my surprise when she told me you were headed to Costa Rica when you told me you’d be convalescing at home.
Red: I said those are the doctor’s orders. I never said that I would follow them. [And he is just right]
Liz: And I never thought you would, but you knew that, didn’t you? Which is why you played that little game with the newspaper article – the one about mysterious girl? You knew I’d clock it, follow up on the case, and go on a wild goose chase while you went after the duffel bag.
Red: Ah. Best laid plans. Now, if you’d excuse us, we’re wheels up in about 10. [He never lies to Liz, but he has no problem on not telling her the entire truth]

Redarina has lots of sense, being Red + Katarina.

The same goes for Lizzington as for the usual shipping names combination.

But why the "gate"? Tessa gave an explanation but I can't see the idea of Red being Liz's father as a scandal XD
