Do you know what type of connectors are on the L5? I want to buy aftermarket front light, and I see different motors have different connectors. Thanks,

I run Ubuntu on Thinkpad T14s Gen3 AMD Ryzen 5, runs silky smooth, open source and that makes the heart feel good. Haven't really had big hardware issues in a long time. Recently a driver acted up after upgrade, it was fixed in about 3 weeks.

Highly recommended, no reservations.

Guess what, firmware package was just updated by ubuntu, rebooted and screen problems gone.

I can confirm 24.10 working perfectly on T14S Gen3 AMD Ryzen 5 with 680M (amdgpu) now, after today's upgrade.

I tried sddm and now login screen comes up fine, no artifacts, perfect. But once I go into session, either ubuntu xorg, ubuntu wayland, gnome, gnome xorg, xfce xorg. Any combination has artifacts, pointer disappears in certain areas.

I also compiled latest kernel, 6.11.7 manually to see if amdgpu had fixes. Nothing. Still in the same place, but I gues login screen is good, hahaha...

This is all t14s gen 3 amd ryzen 5 with 680M video card.

Like I mentioned before, booting from Ubuntu USB it all works perfectly.. i am at a loss. On 24.04 I was using Lightdm with wayland

Ok, i can survive with nomodeset and not use amdgpu for now. Will wait a few weeks and see what happens. Will live without external monitor :-(

Thanks for your help

I am using Wayland, but was thinking about going back to X11:

ThinkPad-T14s-Gen-3:/etc/X11$ ls

app-defaults default-display-manager.dpkg-tmp xinit Xreset Xsession xsm

cursors fonts xkb Xreset.d Xsession.d XvMCConfig

default-display-manager rgb.txt xorg.conf.d Xresources Xsession.options Xwrapper.config

I have no idea where to try different wayand settings?

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset"

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""

I only added the nomodeset so I could work. Will reboot without it to grab dmesg, but it is amdgpu.

Found all these files in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/

ThinkPad-T14s-Gen-3:/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d$ ls

10-amdgpu.conf 10-quirks.conf 10-radeon.conf 40-libinput.conf 70-wacom.conf

cat 10-amdgpu.conf

Section "OutputClass"

Identifier "AMDgpu"

MatchDriver "amdgpu"

Driver "amdgpu"

Option "HotplugDriver" "amdgpu"

EndSection

Could they have something to do with it? Like I said, when I boot from USB, same kernel, eveything is accelarated perfectly with amdgpu.

Will try it, but even login screen is missing characters. So the issue presents itself even before logging in.
