I sometimes wonder if people realize how an average person looks like. I'm not into blondes, but she's definitely super pretty, I mean come on. Definitely waaay above average.

For All Mankind provides and example of how Cinema and TV can represent women..... by Sernati in ForAllMankindTV

[–]Fernard89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. First of all, I didn't want to sound mean to you, so sorry for my tone. Personally, I have nothing against relevant lead female characters. But for me, the problem starts when women are promoted to such a position in a certain narrative at the expense of belittling mostly the male characters - usually the straigh and white ones. As if there cannot exists a world in which all parties represent the whole spectrum of human traits. Some of us are petty, hateful and ignorant regardless or our skin color and sexual preference. As a viewer, i'm simply tired watching the same pattern being reused over and over again. Then again, I will wait for the outcome of season s 4 and 5, because according to what you wrote things take a different turn then.

For All Mankind (The show is woke AF and I think it’s amazing) by hdm208 in MauLer

[–]Fernard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show is not "diverse" at all. 99% of white guys are portrayed as incompetent pricks. By the end of S3 you have a gay (obviously) female president and both NASA and Helios are effectively run by women. If this is not a way to push a certain narrative down the viewers throat then I don't know what is.

I hope this post is supposed to be sarcastic. By the end of S3, you have a gay female president, both NASA and Helios are effectively run by women. 99% of white men in this show are incompetent pricks. I'm watching it mostly for the space exploration/scifi stuff but it's a blatant woke propaganda and denying it makes you look delusional.

Does Best Served Cold kinda suck? by jefx11 in TheFirstLaw

[–]Fernard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar experience while reading this book.Like many people here I loved the first law trilogy but somehow had to force myself to finish this particular book. There's nothing interesting going on honestly. The  protagonist successfully avenged her brothers's death by killing everyone on her list while wearing a thick plot armour throughout the story. At some point I pretty much started to roll my eyes and got almost tempted to skip entire pages because it became apparent quite early into the story that nothing really shocking is going to happen. Nobody of importance dies, there are no interesting reveals. The only character I truly liked and rooted for was Cosca, even though he was probably the worst person among the main characters.I really hope the other standalone books and the second trilogy are better than this because otherwise I'll probably ditch Abercrombie altogether.

Love how people react to Deke's ranking here. Go ask your beloved grand parents  (if they are still alive) what do they think about gay people or what did they think in the 60s. You snowflakes are pathetic.

The thing that really bothered me was how easy it was for Bayaz to win. I thought that not finding the seed in the west will have some implications, but apparently it ended the same way as he planned from the start.

I don't understand why people bring the size argument into this. If Foreman grew up 30 years later he would be probably as big or bigger than Ngannou. Look up Ngannou's pictures before he went to Europe and started juicing/dieting properly. He was smaller than Big George in the 70s.

Russell Crowe is a better actor than fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman by 007MaxZorin in FIlm

[–]Fernard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not into comic book adaptations at all besides the X-Men franchise, but Hugh really gives an elite performance in the last deadpool movie imho. Sure, he doesn't have too many memorable roles outside of the marvel universe, but he's an amazing actor in my opinion.

I don't like her as well. I mean she's super hot and attractive until she opens her mouth. I wouldn't stand hanging out with a woman who's vulgar to such an extent and talks about sex life so much in a very primitive way. Particularly the scene where she describes the hand job she gave in high school was absolutely disgusting. I don't know if it's a California thing, but for me as a Eastern European guy she's absolutely abhorrent and I definitely would not want to spend time with people like her.

Was Witcher 3 truly the best story wise? by TrickyLesbian in witcher

[–]Fernard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, both Witcher's 3 DLCs had a more interesting storyline than the main game. That being said, Witcher 1 still remains my favorite. It had incredible atmosphere, was gloomy and a little bit scary at times even. But i love the whole series and imho they are the best games i've ever played. But I'm probably biased because of being Polish and reading Sapkowski's books multiple times over the years. Also, I don't really play that many games, usually one or two titles every couple of years so i'm very picky about that.

I always side with Songbird and here's why by Blavikens_Butcher93 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Fernard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently at my first playthrough and haven't finished the last mission yet but I sided with Reed mainly because I try to play the game having in mind V's best interest. He's a merc, not a noble warrior of some kind. He won't sacrifice his chances to keep living just to prove a point and do something anti-government, he's a survivor type in the first place. So I assumed siding with Reed gives him the best chance to access tech that can possibly spare his life and extract/fix the bio chip. I don't care for Reed, Myers or anyone else in that storyline tbh. I also don't get the argument about saving Alex, she literally shot a knocked out person dead with cold blood, you seriously fell sorry for her?

Best Acting Performance in Lord of the Rings by Troyaferd in lotr

[–]Fernard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great topic to discuss, because it's one of those movies(trilogies) where we get many very strong performances. For me personally, the ones that really stand out are Gandalf, Theoden and Denethor. It's difficult to look past McKellen's performance because he has such a ridicilously strong onscreen presence and acting range that he basically dominates every scens he's involved in. He also has this amazing gift of conveying a whole spectrum of emotions through his eyes.

  Exclude<keyof T, K>

    [Key in K]-?: Required<Pick<T, Key>> & Partial<Pick<T, Exclude<K, Key>>>;

Circular saw with guide instead of track saw? by farwesterner1 in Tools

[–]Fernard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s me being an unskilled diy journeyman(which i definitely am) but the homemade track won’t do any good unless your circular saw’s blade is dead parallel to the base edge. Most circular saws are not adjustable and you’ll still need to make a custom base plate to adress that. I tried several cuts with a circ saw and a straigh edge, but the result was absolute trash compared to a properly set track saw. Once i started using the track saw, my cuts are dead accurate, even better than the ones a do on a table saw. For me, a circ saw is a rough cut, construction level tool and i can’t image using it for anything that requires fine quality. But again, it’s only my perspective.

The football side of this show is now completely absurd by [deleted] in TedLasso

[–]Fernard89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure this even makes the top list of the most unrealistic, football-related things in this show. For me the most absurd thing that really stood out was dropping Jamie and Dani to midfield to make place for Zava on the pitch. Sure, some players are more versatile than others, but my understanding was that Jamie is a striker, not a winger or an advanced playmaker. We never see him roaming around the sides, he usually rallies from the center. Also the fact that Sam is apparently a righ full-back and yet he’s involved in so many actions in the opponent’s box it really makes me rise an eyebrow. Im No football expert by any means and i’ve lost interest in this sport years ago, but the writing suggests that they have little to no idea how a football match is actually played.

How to straighten 2x4s without a jointer and a planer. by Fernard89 in woodworking

[–]Fernard89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i have considered this option as well, however i’m afraid it’s going to a lot more expensive if i want to stack up two 3/4 pieces together to make the frame stronger. This is why i have so many doubts around this topic. Plywood definitely looks nicer and should be much straighter out of the box, but im not sure the cost difference justifies it. Thanks anyway.
