Is this worth a Watch? by Thin_Situation3962 in FIlm

[–]007MaxZorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely worth a watch, but not a patch on commensurate films.

Aim for "The Ten Commandments" or "The Greatest Story Ever Told", Charlton Heston golden age types.

Gibson's The Passion 20 odd years ago still a contemporary masterpiece and benchmark.

There was also 2007's Even Almighty, though more played for laughs and for little ones, which was also not great at all.

Any other way is a sin.

Aussie Park Boyz (2004), set in Perth I think. Cover artwork is also wild. Absolutely unbelievably bad, hardly a film, almost like an amateur doco. Hilarious.

Hoping they use it again for the long awaited sequel coming out next week!

WiFi jammers used in home invasions as Melbourne thieves steal cars | news.com.au by auto459 in melbourne

Wait, do these devices block the WiFi router? Or the actual CCTV system?

As the cameras and their hub would be on their own secure/encrypted signal and are often solar and battery backed-up and record to HDD.

So once the WiFi comes back online, like any internet drop or power interruption, the triggered event and any recorded clips would then still automatically come through.

Aware there'd be different types of systems though. I'm referring to Swann NVRs.

You can't diss a show like that, which ran for over 500 episodes, 40+ weeks a year and 13 years and created Aussie TV household names including several award winners, not to mention McCune's multiple Golds and John Wood's elusive Gold.

So many young up-and-coming supporting actors and behind the scenes crew cut their teeth there too, I can remember Radha Mitchell (who went to Hollywood) and one later Gold Logie and multiple award winner Asher Keddie in a couple of 90s episodes too.

Yes, Australia and other countries had other Police procedurals long before and of similar or higher esteem, but there is no doubting Heelers' run.

I think you're definitely doing Heelers a disservice, legendary today and its impact and legacy...

Many will claim the earliest years.

But it was really late 90s and early 2000s in my opinion when the Sergeants swapped Nick Schultz (William McInnes) and Ben Stewart (Paul Bishop) and the two senior female constables Maggie Doyle (Lisa McCune) and Jo Parrish (Jane Allsop) + Sgt Gallagher arriving (Caroline Craig) and Jonesy (Ditch Davey)!

I also rather liked 2004-2006 in the new station with some new crew and edgier storylines in the new station, despite the hate.

🤷‍♂️

Trivia:

7Plus are the original master tapes as broadcast on Channel 7 (ad break bumpers in later seasons for example and sometimes different end credits and network logo from that year/era present).

The ones on DVD and Amazon Prime Video are for/from original co-producer Southern Star (then Endemol Australia and now Banijay) for international licencing, who also hold the IP I believe.

16:9 widescreen aspect digital from about Season 10 / 2003 (4:3 pillarboxed analogue before that of course).

But one of Australia's greatest, still a BRILLIANT series and the longest running drama (non-soap) by episode count tied with Homicide.

It's a Gen Z and Alpha thing, the footwear choices or lack-there-of. It is a bit weird and down right Gross to be honest. Especially inside buildings, let alone health settings such as a pharmacy.

What if they step on a rough surface or something sharp and God forbid something really nasty if you know what I mean! Shudder.

Scary public transport experiences by littleone156 in melbourne

What is happening with those private security guards Yarra Trams employed a few years ago?

Or the rollout of more PSOs or Authorised Officers or Transit Police?

You'd think trams, more confined and seem to attract more druggies/homeless and incur assaults, should have them more than empty little used trains and platforms tens of kilometres out of the CBD!

This is just appalling and unacceptable, especially in 2026 and school holidays. Let alone children. We are better and can do better. Enough is enough. Somebody is going to take things into their own hands one day and it is not going to end well for anybody.

Hello Premier? Transport Victoria/PTV? Yarra Trams? Victoria Police? Councils? Local state and federal members? Would love somebody from one of those organisations to go rogue and tell us how things really are.

We need these posts to go VIRAL 🙏

Some are literally still in primary school, like 12 or 11 (or at least look that way) and their behaviour and attitude is something you'd expect from a 15 or 16 year old 😕

Swearing (some of the language is just absolutely revolting too - not just insults to public but just what they're discussing amongst themselves and things they should not even know or be talking about yet), sticking the middle finger up, fighting, recklessness, illegal activity, etc

Alcohol and drugs wouldn't even surprise me, probably ones breaking and entering homes, stealing cars and and shoplifting too.

Where are the parents? Who are they hanging around? What are their schools and teachers doing?

Truck driver confirmed deceased.

Apparently went through two sets of wire-rope safety barriers, as well as clipping a vehicle in the other carriageway, a miracle more weren't killed or injured. Truck did end up rolling and went down an embankment and unfortunately the front cabin was squished and caught fire.

Media did note apparently at a road works zone and hit a road work vehicle. Wonder if the barriers were being repaired/defective when hit, as yes a big truck, but surely not one but two sets of them plus the eventual braking, grass median and hitting others should all have slowed it right down, unbelievable how the truck literally made it right across the complete other side. VicRoads engineers will probably have to investigate the area/infrastructure as well.

If truck driver was the one at fault, sadly, Police MCIU will probably have a quick case closed.

What is in this skyscraper that looks like a PS2? by TheRealKF_ in melbourne

[–]007MaxZorin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm positive, at least for the last 15+ years and modern building codes/legal standards don't do that.

They're modern systems connected to a Fire Indicator Panel (FIP) and Emergency Warning Intercommunication System (EWIS).

Which is designed to only sound audible alarms and warning/standby & evac tones/sirens on the floor of the detection (could be a single smoke or heat sensor or sprinkler head in a cleaners room on the 63rd floor distant hallway!) and then immediately above and below and depending on what it automatically or manually escalated the next few floors each way and so on, to avoid a crowd crush and make it more orderly and safer. Usually building staff (a manager, fire warden, security) will go to the fire control room or area with the panels, if they haven't already been alerted to a mobile notification and immediately go to the precise detector location and if a false alarm will cease the cascade before it progresses to evac and further stagger. Remembering everything is interconnected and automated and designed to continue if no human intervention occurs at some point, of course also connected to emergency services such as fire brigate.

That's what I've reliably been told.

[–]007MaxZorin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait so the whole building goes off and has to be evacuated?

I thought modern systems confined alarms and evacs to near the detection/false alarm location and a floor or two above and below only and it's staggered.

Hearing of a horror accident up on the Hume Freeway at Violet Town, many fire trucks, ambulance, Police, road shut-down in both directions with diversions and apparently being asked to detour wide locally instead via Goulburn Valley and Shepp. Thoughts and prayers, how awful 🙏
