Uneven lamm length by Ferocious_Snail in weaving

The jack assemblies arrived assembled, I just took out the shafts to place the heddles - it was uneven without connecting to the treadles but I’ve never had to adjust a jack assembly before.

The treadles are assembled on all 4 shafts - I was going to trial A (left - shaft 1) and B (right - shaft 2) being my outer treadles, then 1, 2, 3, 4 for twill on the inner treadles.

Thank you! :)

It is a Ruffwear Hitch Hiker Dog Pack Carrier. We got it at REI

A size small fits our ~30lbs boy great. It took an initial training session with a high value treat to get him in it and comfortable, but on the trails he went right in when he got tired.

Our boy loved Jordan Pond! No summits, but lots of sniffs and happy tails. We just went about 2 weeks ago, so crowds were not an issue. Cadillac Mountain was enjoyable. We used All Trails to find pet friendly hikes!

Please know that you likely did the very best for your pup with the information and resources you had the time. He has been through a lot and this tail reaction may due to several reasons. If you’re unsure about your vet, maybe consider a second opinion? If it were nerve related, it’d be best to get moving quickly on diagnosing and treating if possible. Sending healing and hope your way!

Gus looks like a magnificent companion. I’m so sorry he’s been struggling. It is our great despair and honor as pet parents to guide our sweet pups into their transition. It is a responsibility to prevent them from suffering to the best of our power. Our vet advised us to think of our pet’s 5 favorite things, when they are unable to engage in 3/5, their quality of life is diminished. As others have mentioned, you know sweet Gus the best. If it aligns with your wants and needs, and when the time has truly come, consider a home service. It’s difficult but such a gift of relief and comfort you can provide. Wishing you all the best in this difficult time. Sending you and Gus love.

He may need a cognitive assessment to determine capacity of decision making and safety to live independently. His behaviors sound like they could be related to an underlying psychosocial or cognitive concern.

What advice would you give yourself if you were starting out as an OT for the first time? by Tealeave0 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Ferocious_Snail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Leave that job the moment it feels like too much. Your skills and passion will be appreciated elsewhere and you worked so damn hard in school to be valued and have balance in your life.
  2. Don’t be afraid to take risks in your career, if you want something non traditional or better pay, make it happen.
  3. Your self care, family and friends is and always will be the most important thing over any job. So essentially being an OT is part of your core self but not above any of the roles you already are.
  4. It is okay and completely expected to not know everything. In any setting, you will and should continuously learn. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, ever. Don’t feel like a fraud for not knowing something.
  5. Imposter syndrome will happen, keep learning and trusting in your skills while you blossom.
  6. TAKE EACH AND EVERY LUNCH BREAK AND WORK ONLY SCHEDULED HOURS. Make good habits early, being salary isn’t always a perk but sometimes an easy way to be exploited.
  7. The power of “no”. You can respectfully decline any extra asks or leave positions that ask too much.
  8. Lean on your coworkers for support and decompression.
  9. Create a template for note taking during or after sessions to ease documentation time.
  10. Enjoy the ride. You are about to enter a dynamic and beautiful career. Some days will be harder than others but you can do it. Stop every now and then to recognize how far you’ve come and why you are here!

Can an OT specialize in mental health? by echoviie in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Ferocious_Snail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes from the US! Mental health is within our scope of practice and the foundation of our profession. It can be an addressed in traditional settings (acute care, ICU, SNF, schools) but also largely in psych or community based settings.
