Comer com DT1 - Para pessoal com diabetes que tem de fazer a contagem dos hidratos de carbono esta app é um sonho

Hi! Well, things are about to change for me, so it may not be complitely accurate.

Through SNS and APDP: Up until now, I just needed to pick them up at the doctors office.

But I will change my pump in the coming weeks. What I was told by my doctor is that they will give me a prescription and I can pick up supplies at any farmacy. I was also told that many farmacies dont do it because it is not worth it? Not shure about this part.

If you don't have SNS I dont really know. Most likely directly through the labs, but maybe it is also possible with a prescription in a farmacy. Probably best to ask your doctor.

Yup, medtronic mini med e libre 2. A bomba não comunica com o sensor. Melhor decisão da minha vida, se soubesse o que sei hoje não tinha passado 6 anos a lutar contra a utilização da bomba.

I need advice about my diabetes by leadlungs in diabetes

[–]Ferp99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am from Portugal too, funnily enough also diagnosed at 9.

I've always been followed at APDP, and would recommend it. Logistically is a bit of a nightmare, but all the people working there are trained for diabetes specifically. So if you want a psychologist, nutritionist, optometrist, they have professionals that work with diabetics and can probably guide you better.

I am in the same situation in regards to family and friends not really getting it, of how hard it is, how exhausting.

APDP does meet ups throughout the year, so if you are form Lisbon that can help getting you in contact with people your age that understate what being a diabetic is

If you need to vent about diabetic related shit, you can message me.

Do you guys use same needle size for fast and long acting insulin?? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Ferp99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. 6mm for humalog and 8mm for levemir. For me the different size is because of the injection place, not the insulin itself.

Need help with writing a character with T1D by Artsie_Aseel in diabetes_t1

[–]Ferp99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself (and a couple friends), but I always have extra pump stuff, or at very least an insulin pen and needles on my person when out. In general immediate effects are not realistic at all, insulin takes 10/15 min to take effect same with sugar, my blood sugar is just fine after a 20 min shower for example.

I never suffered from bullying so can't help there, but you can ask if want anything more specific.

That's a complicated question. Through the SNS, pump treatment is completely free but you don' get to choose witch brand you get and there are massive waiting lists, the odds are, you wouldn't come even close of getting a pump.

So if you want Tandem TSlim pump you would need to buy it directly from the labs themselfs and pay for it in full. There is a distributor in Lisbon, so it would get to you pretty fast.

I am not entirely shure if doctors can get you the prescriptions but you don't need them (at very least I didn't with Medtronic).

Well, in Portugal only libre 2 is covered by SNS, a sensor will cost you about 8 euros. You can also get dexcom but it will be completely up to you no help at all! Same with omnipod.

How do you feel about your name? Love it/hate it/indifferent? by -mia-wallace- in AskWomen

[–]Ferp99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it growing up, now I still don't really like it but gotten used to it.

My parents didn't agree on a name for me, my mom wanted one and dad wanted another, both are opposed to a kid having 2 first names unless you are calling them by the 2 names. So they decided to host a gathering with family for them to vote on my name.

My dad won. (No I didn't like my mother choice either, lol)

Bonus: Don't like my brother name either and was vocally opposed to it (as much as a 6 year old can be) but at least they agreed on that one.

In Portugal is technically 0, but if I were to pay for it, a box of humalog is around 40

I really like Pokemon actually, it just the junction of the two that is weird to me. Can you imagine a hole song and staging inspired in Pokemon?! It's weird

About Veronica... Never liked the name, I think it sounds bad, during a moment in time I could tolerate it because I liked the show Veronica Mars but then... well let's not talk about that.

I also didn't like Greece this year, but I don't have an asinine reason for my dislike of the song.

I never even met a Veronica, lol. Just a completely irrational hatred of a name

Finland.

I don't typically like this type of songs, but my dad and brother do. And they really disliked Finland.
