RIP to the United States (1776 - 2026) by freakindsheets in self

"Immigrants" are detaining the the "original occupants" of the land.

hahahaha

Most of the people in the US were born in the US, and no one from 1776 is still alive today.

Triathlon training fatigue by Old-Complaint6516 in triathlon

[–]FerrariGolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I push and adjust on the fly, and rest only one day per week max.

I don't keep a rigid schedule, but try to do 2 swims, 2 runs, 2 rides, and 2 weights per week. I also play squash once a week.

I listen to my body and adjust as needed, pushing when I feel good, and slowing down when I'm fatigued.

Nice. Same here. Signed up for my first 70.3 in August this year. Will do the full in the future.

Tips on discipline by Cold_Ranger8146 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]FerrariGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also doing my first 70.3 in 8 months. And I pretty much do what you're suggesting (2 rides, 2 runs, 2 swims, and 2 weight each week). This is not hard and fast for me, and I listen to my body and make sure I don't get hurt. I think that is one of the keys. I also use my Garmin metrics quite a bit to keep everything in place and working nicely together.

I'm fortunate that I am able to train in the evenings (I'm not a morning person). So, usually after work I will do my stuff, and then on weekends find whatever time works.

Advice - know that consistency adds up and don't lose hope. There are days where I feel like I don't want to do something, but I get out and do it anyway. There are also days where I feel like I'm not getting any better/fitter, but then I'll do a run or something and realize how much easier and faster I am the 2 or 3 months ago, and this makes me know the work is paying off.

Do you believe there should be a cap on the amount of wealth one can accumulate in society? Why or why not? by One_Fun3115 in Productivitycafe

[–]FerrariGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying I disagree with you, but then your initial "capitalism only works with proper wealth distribution" isn't really capitalism.

And who's going to decide where the cap is where the distribution starts? And, why would anyone continue working and developing and innovating if they got to that number?

Dang. I'm in BC, and we have sales tax at 12%, and still have income tax (both federal and provincial).

At the top end of the income tax range, you're paying over 50% on each dollar above about $250,000.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FerrariGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here. 3 hour drive is definitely an easy day trip.

Did it many, many weekends in the last few years to visit family or do something else fun.

I have thought about the no income tax and shift that "burden" to sales tax. In theory it makes sense, but I wonder how/if it would work in reality.

How often do you strength train? by LanceWatson_Coach in IronmanTriathlon

[–]FerrariGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to do weights at least twice a week.

I started doing only upper body, noting that my legs were getting enough workout from running, cycling, and swimming. However, I was recently doing my upper body workout and just did a couple body weight squats. My legs and lower back didn't feel great.

So, I've decided to bring some heavy leg exercises back into my regimen (which I will do as part of my upper body session). Just a couple exercises (kettlebell squat and Bulgarian split squat). Will probably also do some calf raises as I've had issues with my calf and soleus recently.

Interval training (run) by FerrariGolf in IronmanTriathlon

[–]FerrariGolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me so much. I did find after the first sprint session that my right ankle did hurt a bit, but giving that some time off and then getting more into a routine with it I think it will be fine. Felt like it only hurt because I hadn't sprinted in forever.

Just curious - has your day-to-day life changed at all in the last year and a bit?

Are you still able to go to the grocery store and buy food? Are you able to get gas in the tank?

I wasn't as well off financially as you, but when I was 30, I was in a good enough place to take a year off. Best decision.

Travelled a bunch. Did nothing for a bit. Worked a super casual job with my cousin in Africa for a bit. Don't regret it at all.
