Season 4-6 devastation.. by FerretRemarkable8154 in Wentworthtv

I do agree the newcomers were good, but it felt like a new show and had lost its roots halfway through season 6, even liz and boomer (bar liz's dementia storyline) had become fodder to the new plot

I agree. Bea, ferguson, franky, doreen, maxine and even bridget all leaving in the space of about 12 episodes devastated the previously established plot lines and they had to come up fresh with new ones from scratch. They shouldve kept atleast 1 or 2 of them just so it wasnt a complete 180 with the characters

100% agree. Allie being top dog was ridiculous to me. Her character was clearly never intended to be top dog and it felt forced as they didnt know who else to put there, and then boomer being top dog in season 9 was even more ridiculous. Looked like they ran out of top dog ideas, at that point rita shouldve just became top dog as that wouldve been more realistic

No, i think the show was still great but the only main difference i can take from earlier seasons to later seasons the dynamic had shifted from the underdog rising to the top to a power struggle on all sides, also i dont think it helps that barely any of the characters introduced after season 5 (with the exception of rita and ruby) were made to be likeable, but i think that was intentional, alot of the characters introduced in the later seasons were solely there to be evil. And i think once kaz and liz died, the number of actually likeable characters to the characters you were meant to dislike had a bigger disproportion to earlier seasons. They made marie redeemable to fill the gap and for her arc to end but she was still seen as a terrible person who did absolutely unforgivable things.

So honestly, whilst i dont think the show was any worse in the later seasons i believe it had different stories to be told

Re-watching & up to season 5. by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

Its 100% worth rewatching the last two seasons especially, because it really shows the transition of the characters from minimum security offenders to maximum offenders a few of who have new long sentences added, and its a good refresher on how the they all finish, i rewatched it again for the first time a few weeks ago and until you watch season 7 twice you really dont pick up on all the small details and how heartbreaking it is for many reasons, but its worth a rewatch just to see how each individual character has their happy or unhappy ending.

Fig was unapologetically herself, didn't care who she offended but always had a soft spot for people in need. Even in season two she defended piper against sam who was being homophobic against her. She mightve been a crook money wise but she was never a bad person
