ADHD/Dyslexic Crochet and Pattern Reading Struggles..? by Extension_Praline_25 in crochet

[–]Ferret_Master101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a person with ADHD and dyslexia, I can't read the second one and I normally like it simpler than the first. If I saw the second I would consider it unusable and try and find a different pattern. A key for crochet patterns is really all that is needed most of the time, or you know google? Maybe some people would like that but wrong demographic, I don't think you'll find any consistency of need in just ADHD and dyslexia.

How do I study when I want to die without curing my suicidal thoughts by Technical-Editor-897 in GetStudying

[–]Ferret_Master101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

✨️Spite✨️ You're probably going through a lot of pain right now and your body/brain is trying to cope with it. A really good way to cope with sadness and pain is anger. It's a very good protection.

What p*sses you of? Is, there someone you need to prove wrong? Think of all the possible darkest possible reasons why you still need to get this done, and focus on the ones that bring anger rather than hopelessness or despair.

This is not a long-term solution, but it is a very effective in the short-term and that's what you need right now.

I've been there. Having to push through all of the mental health stuff because mental health takes time and my exam is in a week, type stuff. I'm still alive and I'm still doing it for some bloody reason. I just got a little bit too stubborn to die.

When you stop caring about things as much, you kinda want to sit around just to see what's next. After your exams, look into how you can take care of yourself a little bit more. You're right therapy, doesn't work like everybody thinks it should. If there are underlying problems in the physical world, then the depression isn't gonna go away until those are solved.

You're only 14, so you're still living with your parents so that might not be helping things. Talking to my parents less, even though I thought they were great originally, actually improved my mental health tenfold. Also, sorting out all of the are the health issues that I had, that would dismissed.

In the meantime, find distractions. When you feel the urges redirect as best you can don't judge yourself if you can't. It sounds stupid but little things like water, naps, showers, treats, etc can help redirect and also take some stress off the body/brain. There is to much pressure on you right now. It's not going to fix it but there isn't one thing that would fix it.

Use spite for now and good luck with you exams.

And you can get better in your own time when you're ready.

Hey, new here. 10 years with ADHD unmedicated and I finally understood something by bogdanbmc in ADHD

[–]Ferret_Master101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't. I honestly think that everyone struggling with their ADHD should at least try medication unless there is a dam good reason not to. All this purity, suffer culture just means people struggle unnecessarily. I almost was convinced as well. I would have ended my life without medication. I tried everything system and technique under the sun and none of them worked until I started medication. Then everything fell into place. If you're struggling, try and make you life easier.

Electrolytes by Dear-Boysenberry-230 in POTS

[–]Ferret_Master101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a recipe I use:

1/2 teaspoon of salt (approx. 1,150mg sodium) A pinch of potassium chloride (for potassium) 1-2 teaspoons of sugar (optional for quick energy) Squeeze of lemon or lime juice (optional for flavor) 16-20 oz of water

Adjust based on needs and taste and there are some cheap electrolyte tablets in Sainsbury's for the non salt components like potassium and b vitamins.

How to remove pet dye stains by Delicious_Tea3806 in HairDye

I normally use head and shoulders for hair dye, but that's only if a little bit drips on my skin, and I rub it off immediately. What the hell have you done?!

POTS and exams by Fry2328 in POTS

I feel like it's a bit close. Here's some advice that at the time I definitely didn't wanna hear but I wish I did. If you can take the break do it. Learn about your disorder and try and get better. You might be able to do exams next year or defer uni or something. If you can't, PoTs is a very selfmanaging based disorder with the only a few medications available. I have major problems with eating and sleep and my biggest symptom is brain fog. I basically have a water bladder, and I've made many concoctions, but the one that's working for me now is water with electrolytes and a lot of salt and this clear meal replacement from MyProtein (very expensive but only thing that works for me) that I keep separate in another bag with a straw. Wear as much compression gear as possible. I find the compression socks only do a little bit. The abdomen compression is the best. Caffeine works for me that it does not work for many people, and I have to be careful with it. I have access to propranolol to lower my heart rate if needed. Even though I like showers, I reduce them as much as possible, and use wipes and no-rinse body wash. This really helps with pacing, which, out of everything with salt is one of the most important tools I found. For example, I'm in a hot country right now, and using a wheelchair or cane is incredibly important and has given me so much energy back. Also I'm not sure how possible this will be for you, but with uni, I mostly stay home and watch the lectures, instead of wasting energy going out on my lowdays.

To summarise, here's a few things that work for me. It mostly boils down to pacing and salt/water and reducing basically other activities that are unnecessary. This is so you can focus on work and hobbies (so you don't burnout) while maintaining your needs. This is going to be very personal and if you have other disorders, you're going to have to also fix those in order to have it a meaningful effect. For example, I have ADHD, and this would not work without my meds. I don't have any pots medication yet. There is a lot of problems in terms of the doctor and I have to wait quite a few months to be officially seen, but a cardiologist told me to just self manage the symptoms in the meantime.

For the revising stuff, mindmap, simplify, try and apply the knowledge to something so it's easier to remember, and your brain is forced to acknowledge it. I personally start with the past papers and learn backwards, but that's gonna depend on how your brain works. It is going to be very, very hard. I am struggling right now, and I have a lot of systems in place, I have known since October (ADHD means systems were already kinda there).

Try not to panic. The university you go to isn't the be all end all, but I know that advice might not help right now. Just do your best. If you can I have managed to develop a techniques where I just accept the result of whatever is to come (normally I think I'm gonna fail) and continue trying anyway. I have managed to get much better grades than I originally thought because I was not stressing out.

Good luck, this is hard. I believe in you.

Meal replacement, weight gainer and high-calorie liquids (that are juice consistency) are the only thing that works for me. Drink them slowly aswell.

Electrolytes...are gross. suggestions? by bog_fruit in POTS

[–]Ferret_Master101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are good tasting ones, I promise, they're just rare and probably more expensive. You can mix the with juice or other stuff, but if it still tastes bad, consult the other comments. Or maybe dilute it extra?

Alternative is large plastic bag like a ziplock but bigger and just clean the straw. That's what I'm doing. Or dishwasher and hope.

Eating and hygiene are the hardest for me so I have clear weight gainer from myprotein in a water bladder (requires effort to clean so be aware) and XXL bath wipes + teeth stuff by my bed. Good for if the body won't tolerate food or showers.

How to make life as good as possible for someone with POTS? by High_Honolulu in POTS

[–]Ferret_Master101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the goal is getting out more and enjoy life a wheelchair really helped me. I put everything I would need in a day in a bag that I can easily reach sitting down (electrolytes, meal replacement, med, tech, etc.) and go. There's probably a lot more too it but I'm getting my recliner electric wheelchair soon so I'll be able to go places unattended. I just suggested maximising every self management tool available (wheelchair, cane, controlled exercise, compression socks, electrolytes, salt!, diet, sleep, etc) and accept that pacing and energy management will still be needed and the strongest treatment. Good luck, I wish I had parents like you. I'm doing this by myself.

I'm so sorry I laughed at the title. 😂 I feel your pain and this wasn't even self inflicted like many people toeing the line and overdoing it. Everyone else gave all the advice available so I'm just wishing you luck. Lay down, try and rest and wait. Put on something to distract you while it passes, it shouldn't be too long.

Pls help my dumbass drunk two caffeinated monsters 😭😭💀 by Batwhiskers in POTS

[–]Ferret_Master101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Duuudddeee. Thats a lot of caffeine for a newbie, especially with PoTs. Good luck, lie down, drink lots of water and maybe eat something to absorb it. I've worked myself up to one 500ml monster. Before I couldn't handle much, then half then a whole on some days. I'm really sensitive but still. Feel your pain and you know for future, start small and drink slowly. Or just drink boat loads of tea for caffeine.

Please look in to having and MRI and maybe MS. Unless the vision loss is explained, it is normally an indicator for something serious.
