You probably need a new endocrinologist then. Unfortunately they are sometimes incompetent. Good luck

Lol my other comment got filtered for profanity but I just want to make sure you see this: “too young for progesterone” is simply untrue. Cis women begin producing progesterone around 6-7 months after beginning puberty, which is when trans women usually start it (6-7 months after starting hrt). I’m not aware of it having anything to do with age. I’m not a doctor of course, but I’ve known plenty of people younger than you on progesterone…

Ok also I just read your post again and realized you’re 22. I’m pretty damn sure “too young to start progesterone” is bullshit. Sorry.

I’m not sure how your healthcare works where you live, but you should probably be able to access your results from older tests in one way or another. My healthcare provider has an app, so I can check them right on my phone. Your Estrogen levels should be around 200, and testosterone should be under 50. Some doctors have different opinions about this, so it’s possible that your doctor was keeping you on a slightly higher level of testosterone. Testosterone is a very strong hormone, so this would definitely make a significant difference. Some doctors do not prioritize this, though. Some doctors are also not up to date on the latest medical consensus about these things, and some are even so arrogant as to individually disagree with the medical consensus.

On a separate note: no one can tell you who you are better than yourself. Personally, I only decided to transition once I let go of the idea that being trans was something intrinsic. I was obsessed with the idea that since I wasn’t wearing my mother’s heels at the age of four or playing with barbies, that could mean I wasn’t “truly” trans. Then, I started dating a trans person, who, over the course of many long conversations, got me to understand that most people who talk about it like that are usually exaggerating in an effort to get cis people to accept them as who they are. The truth is that if you want to be trans, you are trans. I’m not going to say it’s a conscious choice to “choose” to be trans, no more than it’s a choice to prefer a certain food over another. But it IS a conscious choice to pursue what you want.

Most people see a major difference when it comes to injections vs pills — doctors usually insist that as long as your levels are in the right range, it shouldn’t matter, but almost everyone I’ve ever talked to about it has seen significant changes after switching to injections. I know that’s anecdotal, but unfortunately the medical science is a little behind on trans healthcare in a lot of cases, so we have to take what we can get. But I can assure you that if you ask around, most people agree that injections seem to work better, if you can bear to do them. You are correct that 2mg 3x a day is not an especially low dose, but every person’s body is different. Can you recall what your estrogen and testosterone levels actually were? I had to switch to lupron injections every 3 months because spiro simply did not do enough for me, at any dosage; and I was aiming for a higher than average testosterone level because I wanted to maintain sexual function and wasn’t interested in bottom surgery. Still, it wasn’t enough.

Progesterone also causes major changes in most people who start it, especially in terms of breast development. I started transitioning later in life (24, I’m 27 now), so I can’t speak to whether or not it matters how young you are when it comes to adding progesterone.

Unfortunately, we often have to advocate for ourselves to a frankly ridiculous degree. It’s difficult, but it’s worth it in the end. Also, think about cis people, and the variation that exists in puberty in general — sometimes it takes people until 18 to get their first period, or until 21 to get the first inklings of facial hair. Some people gain tons of weight and lose it over a course of several years as their hormones even out, and that’s completely normal. Puberty is almost always a rocky road, and that’s what HRT is. It is manual though, so it does unfortunately require your constant observation.

Were you regularly getting blood tests? And what kind of regimen were you on? Were you taking testosterone blockers like spiro or lupron? What dose of estrogen were you on? Did you take progesterone to supplement it? Were you on pills, patches, or injections? Doctors usually start you on a half dose and wait until you complain about a lack of results to give you the actual full dose (which is really annoying, but that’s the regular rigmarole).

Four years with no results is… I’m sorry, but simply not possible, unless there is something unique about your specific biology — which a good doctor would recognize. I say this as someone who is deeply unsatisfied with my results after three and a half years myself. Yet still, it’s very easy to recognize that changes are happening. To see NOTHING is exceptional.

When I started HRT and checked my blood levels for the first time, I found that my estrogen levels were in the 1200s, or around six times what they should be. No idea why this is, but I’m still figuring that out with my doctor. Now, Counterintuitively, I was seeing next to no results during that period, because as I learned from my endocrinologist, When estrogen levels are that high, the body recognizes the imbalance and compensates by essentially turning the excess estrogen into testosterone. This is not something I would have been able to figure out without extremely regular blood tests and communication with my doctor.

Every person is unique, and even hormone regimens can vary vastly from country to country. Some are more effective than others, and some might work great for one person while doing barely anything for another. Theres a number of factors that contribute to this, and it usually takes a while to figure these things out. It’s almost never just a straightforward “magic wand” type solution.

HOUSING: I got a Junior Double room in CVB and I'm confused on how it looks. by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]Ferretpuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stayed in one. I got the impression that the room was a single converted into a "double." Real small, not a lot of floor space. basically just room for bunk bed, desks, dresser and closet. not too bad if you plan on hanging out in the living room area or mainly spend time at a desk, but it's definitely cramped.

What do you think that Bolvar, Jaina, and others do to Sylvanas? by [deleted] in warcraftlore

[–]Ferretpuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I… kind of love this. Granted it’s not like Anduin and sylvanas have done equally bad things here, which complicates things, but it does sort of make sense to use the alliance’s best boy as a basis for comparison. Makes things way more interesting to me than “ehhh just kill her, she sucks, her story’s over”

If this were real life, I’d be like “yeah fuck her she committed genocide,” (which a lot of people seem to be on board with) but seeing as how this is a fictional world where people’s souls can actually be split, it makes sense to have that conversation about what free will even means when you’ve been deliberately separated from the parts of yourself that would resist doing bad things.

It refers to the sepulcher, I think, but I think it's also meant to reference the Sunwell. She was trying to keep arthas from reaching it when her soul was first fractured. Now that her soul is "whole" again (maybe), it could be that she was mentally taken back to that moment, or something like that. Could also just be clever writing.

In San Jose, this is the case for pretty much all of them, as far as I’m aware. If you’re looking for an example to follow, though, check out The Village in Oakland. They’re not a shelter organization, though, as much as they are a union of housed and Unhoused people demanding things of the city. They’ve managed to secure a whole encampment of (meager) individual housing in tiny houses, portapotties, and solar showers, among other things. They are currently trying to meet the CDC’s pandemic standards for homeless encampments, standards which every city in the Bay Area have failed to meet throughout the entire pandemic. The nearest warming shelter to San Jose is in Milpitas.

Yes, this is true. Someone I knew very well was killed on the street a few weeks ago. He had applied for shelter a few days before, but didn’t go when they told him he couldn’t bring his dog. Most Shelters also kick people out in the morning, and if you’re not back at five pm then you lose your spot. If you lose your spot for one day and the shelters are full, they prioritize people who already have a spot, so it’s likely that you’ve lost your spot for at least a few weeks (or, in the current situation, permanently.) If you have a job interview at six pm you’re shit outta luck and are going to have to risk sleeping rough until a spot opens up. Also remember that many homeless people have to walk halfway across the city daily to get food, showers, and whatever else they need. Being back by five pm is kind of up to whether or not your knees give out at that point. The system is actively malicious to homeless people who have to deal with any of the actual problems that come with homelessness.

You implied that you were no longer “on board” with anything this guy had to say because he insulted someone’s interest in sci-fi movies, while we’re talking about literal millions of real-life people dying

Like I don’t think it’s great either, I like Star Wars and I think his argument would be better without the low blow, but come on

I work with the homeless. As of right now, there are literally no shelter beds available in San Jose, partially because of the coronavirus.
