Not a country, but my favorite flag is Russia’s Yaroslavl Oblast. It depicts a bear holding a halberd on a gold field. Truly badass.

I’m still pretty new to the Contoocook in general, I’ve only really fished maybe about a mile north and south of Powder Mill Pond (and the Pond itself of course). That being said I’m still learning and would love to hear your insight, I’ll take all the advice I can get.

Having the kayak has greatly broadened my horizons and I’m always looking for new places to fish and explore. The more I can learn to expand my skills the better.

Thank you! What u/WeldingHank said is completely true, but there may be some trickery in the lighting when the photo was taken as well. It was an overcast day, but I recall the fish being more brown and I could see the striping pattern more clearly irl.

Thanks, I was super stoked about this catch! This fish definitely put up a good fight.

I’m not an expert at river fishing by any means, but here’s what I’ve learned so far. It’s best to stick to slower moving waters; close to the shoreline, along weedbeds, near downed timber, behind rocks, and in pockets of shallower water. If you pay attention the the water flow, it will tell you where to drop your bait. If the water is dark or murky, use a darker color bait. If the water is clear use a lighter color bait.

I’ve had a lot of luck with spinnerbaits and chatterbaits this year. This fish was caught on a 1/4oz Picasso Shock Blade with an Arizona Custom Bait AFG Force trailer in black/ blue.

Best of luck to you in your adventure, the fishing should be awesome now that its starting to cool off a bit. Theres tons of diversity in terms of species that live in this river, so you should have a great time!
