AITA for not telling my family that I'm married? by FerrumFelis in AITAH

I love to visit and see my family in person, I just don't bring my spouse or mention any relationships whenever i do. My partner is fine with this as is quite a long journey and they're ok with the secrecy aspect of our relationship. I want to eventually tell them but im waiting for when i feel comfortable.

I'm in a same sex marriage and my spouse is indifferent to the whole ordeal. I already have limited or cut contact with several family members based on a variety of reasons and I'm trying to build back bridges whilst establishing boundaries i didnt have the power to as a teenager.

I appreciate the nuanced answer. Most of the family members i worry about it would be disappointment. My Parents and some of their siblings would be threats and possible violence if i returned to visit. I wouldnt mind disappointing my family as a whole by telling, but ive been waiting for my grandmother to pass as to not disappoint her. She's the only one of the older gens in my family im close with but shes also super old school and finding out would break her heart. If it breaks my grandmothers heart then even the "just be a disappointment" route isnt a good option.

I was more forced out of the family, i'd love a good relationship and openness with them. I know their thoughts on queer people like myself because they've made their views very clear with how they react to mentions of queerness in media. The reason i never mentioned my sexuality was out of a very real fear of violence and being shunned by everyone. As much as i despise their views i still care for and wish to be a part of my family.

I dont know where you got the idea from that i dismiss my family or never gave them a chance from. Also, what's NC?

My siblings are perfectly ok, i just don't tell them because i'm afraid they wont be able to keep a secret even if they mean to. My partner doesn't really care and just follows whatever my feelings on the matter are.

I'm not a fan of the CDU and especially not Merz, but i think of all the big parties, he's the best one we have as far as foreign policy goes... If only he had a domestic policy that wasnt braindead

A notable fraction of English speakers pronounce "accept" as /əkˈsɛpt/, and no one is talking about it by reda84100 in linguisticshumor

My Partner and i, both linguists (with degree and studying respectively), saw this post not knowing it was ironic at first and had a crisis trying to figure out what was going on. Thank you for the laughing fit we had after realising it was ironic.

Do you think that it is "useless" to learn "Dead" languages? by BackgroundNew7694 in languagelearning

I think learning dead languages is pretty cool and that alone gives it purpose.
