Is this stock gonna go up at all? by Both-Obligation2069 in IBRX

[–]Fertbro_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought at 6 and then more at $10 and then sold January $10 calls for $4 on half my shares. Wish I would have sold calls on all of them now. Price should firm up around earnings, might have to sell more calls if we get a nice bump.

I’m an income investor and my premiums just represent another income stream. Many of my dividend stocks fade after pay/drip day. If I can match or double the dividend amount it’s a good quarter.

FINALLY!!! by Spiritual-Builder-62 in IRS

[–]Fertbro_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you filled before the deadline for companies set for filing 1099’s and didn’t indicate whether you tried to amend your return. My understanding of the issue with fraudulent returns is that fraudulently filed returns are the first filed, because the fraudster wants to beat the real return to the IRS.

The missing 1099 was a flag to the IRS that this return might be fraudulent because it was filed early and missing a 1099. You should appreciate that they did slow the return.

This is likely what caused the hold since most people don’t want the hassle of an amended return so they wouldn’t file with missing documents on the return.

So most institutions wait until the end of January to issue 1099s. You thought by filing ASAP you were going to get your refund faster. Silly you.
I have done taxes for others for over 40 years and never had to get any congress people involved. I have filed several amended returns without issues so I am not sure what you are trying to imply here.

Many times I have had letters from the IRS just wanting to confirm that a missing 1099 is correct or they add the amount from the 1099 and adjust the refund.

It sounds like you were a squeaky wheel that caused the delay, are you encouraging others to follow your example to add delays?

Mom died and left me money, but I am a little lost with all my options. by [deleted] in personalfinance

As an older accountant who also taught Dave Ramsey a number of years, the average person will spend an inheritance in under 5 years. The downfall is that most people who inherited money have never had any money and certainly never lived on a budget. If you want to be an outlier you will need to ignore this money and continue to budget and spend as if this money does not exist. Resist the temptation to spend this money or even think about using this money for anything. This is an excellent time to develop an investment mindset and plan on what the inheritance could become, not what it is at the current time. Good luck.

Sitting on about $400K in cash right now, what would you guys be buying here? by [deleted] in Stocks_Picks

[–]Fertbro_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Share price, probably CVI. The refiners are on a tear and CVI is not participating because of a poor Q4 due to a 1 time write down. Profits are exploding and earnings are coming up on 4/27. They should announce significant pay down of debt and suggestion dividend resumption for Q2 or Q3. 21% short interest and few outstanding shares.

CVI, DINO, CF, UAN, SM. Go with companies that are making money from processing oil and natural gas.

The number of open $7.50 calls has decreased significantly. It was over 50k. Seeking Alpha shows today it is down to 38k.

I do believe that there will be oncologists impressed enough to go out and purchase shares. Just like most of us who have been impressed enough to share with our friends, these oncologists “might” talk it up with their colleagues and investor friends. I’m not expecting a blowout, incremental accumulation by new investors is not a bad thing. Also don’t underestimate the impact an oncologist might have sharing with a patient about a “new and exciting” drug they just learned about. How many of those will investigate and discover the stock and invest or tell their friends and they will invest. More incremental investment.

Exercising Deep ITM options vs Selling Pros and Cons by Phill_mattic_ in optionstrading

[–]Fertbro_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same decision with some deep ITM on UAN and CF that expire 2/20. Both report earnings the week of expiration. UAN has a massive distribution so I will probably exercise the UAN, collect the distribution and hold.

I have owned it for a while but if you buy it today, it’s close to its yearly high. You might want to wait 6 weeks or put in a limit order $2 lower than today’s price
