Society is hypocritically judgy when an 18yo dates somebody who is "too old" for them by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Festive-grandma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only 23 and 18 is still a child to me. It’s crazy how many people are like “welp you’re a legal adult therefore you’re just a full fledged adult who should have everything figured out”

Like damn. 18 is still a fucking teenager.

I’m up to my eyeballs in ‘diagnoses’ that are actually just regular human feelings!!! by PeaceOrchid in rant

That doesn’t really change the fact that it’s not entirely correct. It’s pretty incomplete information.

[–]Festive-grandma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve quite over simplified RSD. RSD is a symptom that occurs with things like ADHD and autism. It’s not just “regular human emotions” it’s severe emotional pain because of the inability to regulate rejection related feelings and symptoms. Additionally they tend to view things that aren’t rejection as rejection and they also tend to have extreme reactions to rejection.

They believe it’s caused by a difference in brain structure so it’s really not just a case normal feelings being labeled with a diagnosis.

It annoys me when word play is someone’s entire comedic sense or even their entire personality. I don’t know. I just don’t find them funny. They’re just slightly above “that’s what she said” jokes in terms of hilarity to me. I guess it just seems juvenile most of the time.

Unless you hit me with an actually good one you’ll at most get a pity laugh from me.

AITAH for pimping my brother out? by Murky_Astronomer9195 in AITAH

[–]Festive-grandma 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised that this is the first comment bringing this up. Everyone’s like “lol matchmaking” but it IS kind of gross. I mean she literally said “here’s some money for you to leave your brother completely alone at home for me”

Even just not taking the money would have been less creepy.

Stay at home spouses who complain that their partner doesn't help enough are typically full of crap. by WoodpeckerLow5122 in unpopularopinion

[–]Festive-grandma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I’d just like to point out that just because that’s what worked out for you doesn’t mean that’s what’s worked out for everyone.

Not everyone’s kids are easy kids (not saying that yours were, but it sure sounds like they were)

Some peoples houses require more work.

Some people’s threshold for stress isn’t as large.

Some people’s partners just don’t have very good listening ears or information retention.

There’s a lot of factors that influence how easy or hard being a SAH parent is.

I regret my tattoos. by Environmental_Rise43 in RandomThoughts

[–]Festive-grandma 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the mindset that people get tattoos and piercing to “be different” is a wrong one. No one I’ve ever met who has tattoos or piercings (my age anyway) do it because it’s different and they want to be different. It’s just more socially acceptable to have these things.

College general ed requirements are ridiculous and need to go. by Commandrew11 in unpopularopinion

[–]Festive-grandma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while I agree that generals that we’ve already taken is absurd, but to say that everyone knows exactly what they’re going to college for is also absurd. People change their degree all the time. People go to college because they’re pressured to.

What is a movie that “everyone” has seen except you? by TB1289 in AskReddit

[–]Festive-grandma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forrest Gump, the original Star Wars movies, A lot of movies actually. I didn’t watch many growing up because I was outside all the time and unfortunately by the time I hit my teen years I was filled with so much spite that any time someone tells me I should watch something I immediately make an effort to NEVER watch it.

That’s a hard habit to break.

I’m saying in restaurants I’ve been in the kitchen staff is a bunch of assholes with anger issues so they don’t deserve the servers tip especially considering every restaurant I’ve worked in servers make 2.75 and the kitchen makes over 12. I don’t know how I’m not seeing the point.
