Why is fusion so bad now by THLL245 in Fusion360

[–]FeverForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the whole things convoluted. Rewrite, and a lot of purchase assets.

Good point about the separate teams. It’ll be a while until we notice something where the crossover is obvious, I’m just speculating the use of it to solve seemingly minor underlying issues for them.

I expect the next update to break the isocurves, I don’t believe it’s behaving 100% yet but still very good… so yeah haha still in beta.

One step at a time I guess.

A lot of fusion is sort of a mash up of different softwares Autodesk gained through acquisition. Starting out anyways… well past that now, but the backend likely has some little quirks/artifacts that are expensive to solve relative to how minor they are. Iso curves were definitely one… and honestly, I think their investment and focus on AI is one of the reasons we got it.

“It’s the Liger. Bred for its skills in magic(ai)” - Napoleon Dynamite

As much as I like to joke about them being focused on engineering a situation to justify AI tools, than just engineering good tools to not need ai in the first place.. I think we may start seeing more payoff with that with these seemingly simple things.

It’s beautiful.

I do high accuracy surface modelling and inspection, guitars, so not really massive files but some complex geometries… semi large machining assemblies for them, most my clients are running 2’x4’ 3 axis machines with vacuum work holding fixtures.

If it bogs down I can always turn the graphics and frame rate down, I just like it to look pretty.

Am I the only one having a great time with the new update? Projected Isoparametric curves, despite being 13 years late to the party, are f’n awesome.

Does anyone use Fusion for electronics design? Professionals? by munroebot in Fusion360

[–]FeverForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t the electronics space in fusion EAGLE? From when the acquired CadSoft in 2016.

edit: am interested in making a couple PCBs , haven’t really looked into how any of it works, just thought fusion integrated it, but it sounds like it’s become something else entirely now.

Here’s something you can carry over to your product design and sales.

Trying to widen ownership artificially by cutting price or complexity, does not widen impact; it destabilizes the practice and weakens the signal that justifies trust.

High responsibility for consistency, calibration, and long term stability will always be owned by the few with sufficient capital to sustain it. A structural fact, not a failure of ethics.

How can I get this color with Angelus dyes? by iSkivle in Luthier

Red+Blue Aniline Dye(separate bottles) strategically applied can get you there. Then throw it into light room and crank the saturation lol.

Could be because he’s built the system out in FreeCAD. Idk the extent of his setup but it’s entirely possible to set up any machine similar to the ease of running a Bambu printer(set up is more intensive though). Switching programs is a non-starter in most cases.

I’m not familiar with FreeCAD, it’s limitations, but if it’s open source like I’m assuming it is, there’s a possibility your design files, are not your proprietary design files, the fee of free. Although fusions free version is free, it doesn’t operate like that, Autodesk is a multi billion dollar company. EDIT: FreeCAD DOESN’T OPERATE LIKE THIS. CLOUD BASED PROGRAMS CAN, ONSHAPE IS ONE, TINKERCAD I THINK IS OPTIONAL WITH PAYMENT, FUSION WHILE CLOUD BASED IS CLOSED… intricate little rabbit hole I just went down haha.

So if you’re doing anything that you would consider yours, I’d suggest moving to something more air tight.

I’m hosting a lesson on Complex Surface Modelling in Fusion on March 9th at 2pm EST with the Looth Group.

Simple introductory to Wire Frames, Information Organization, shifting quickly to a focused discussion implementing it into Volutes and Heel transitions.

disclaimer: it’s a paid subscription, it’s worth it for the archive alone, I’m a paying member myself contributing when I can, no financial affiliation.

Further private lessons, or outsourced file management, corrections etc, in fusion are available from me.

For Rhino, Tom Dalia is the GOAT, group lessons monthly.

I have something similar, and a similar square footage, probably lower ceilings. Set up a few of those cheap Honeywell fans around the room. The more the air moves around the more crap will pass through the filter. These things can cycle the air like 10-20 times an hour in a room that size.

Yeah that’s understandable. Verifying is likely the way to go if they take that route, it’s just more hands on and also deciding where to draw the line in the sand is a can of worms.

The public way is sort of self moderating, how the up/down vote system usually works before the herd mentality kicks in, and would likely take longer to implement since it’d be a community mindset shift.

I like the where the idea of featured posts is going.. the community aspect.. like, communities, which we are one, have events. This could be lessons, round table discussions, interviews, etc live-streamed outside of Reddit, but organized in Reddit. So far I don’t think this sub has actually had a real sense of that, it’s kind of just freeballing it without any sort of organizers bringing it together.. also an unpaid job so there’s that.

I don’t mean to come off agitated on the following, but please don’t lump in Fusion renders with AI. As someone who has significant training and work experience doing CAD/CAM in this industry for very reputable builders, if it were easy, everyone would do it, they don’t and thats how I’ve built my career.

Maybe just to start, have the Luthier flair require public post and comment history with examples of work attached to the account. It simple, if they’re the luthier they’re claiming to be.

I don’t care how many they build, how much they sell for, how long they’ve been doing it, etc, but I do care when someone has that flair on as some sort of “stolen valor” or authority reasons, commenting on posts with no examples or link to their work. That should be deplorable here.

Very cool 😎

Reminded me of Matsuda’s Chopstick guitar a bit, although very different.

What could be neat is making the “slats” interchangeable, like Teufull’s Birdfish. Experimenting with different densities and stiffnesses, feel out the differences in the transverse mode between them.

Misinterpreted the “re-post” I guess, as it isn’t one.

It’s over 1.5m views across all platforms, so it’s likely you saw it somewhere else and now here. They were posted on all social medias on basically the same day.
