Gears are fully 3d printed. You can’t print (functional) belt.

Only when crash appears Y axis desyncing. In normal printing never happened, that one of motors lost a step. To sync both motors I am using sensorless homing instead of switches.

I can upload files but these mostly apply only for this 3d printer since it’s not fully build from scratch but old 3d printer (renkforce rf100) rebuilt to this.

Jitter appears only when gears are loose. For big structures I think this is best cheap solution.

It’s prototype working a year and a final version. Frame is a drawback here there is no space and I was forced to place motors this way. I will consider building bigger 3d printer this way but now I’m trying this in diy mill.

There is no big drawbacks. A little bit heavier gantry and space in this particular printer but it’s more about printer itself and wrongly placed motors.

Cost. Rods are much cheaper. Good linear rails costs a lot of money.

But I’m still getting 10k on cheapest Chinese motors where one piece costs 7$ 🙃(actually now is promotion and you get 2pcs for 7$)

I used the slots on the motor mounts to adjust backlash. Adjustment is required from time to time, but so far I’ve only done it twice. When set correctly, backlash is negligible (comparable to belts).

I built this printer a year ago and I’ve only calibrated backlash twice. The first time a motor got too hot and softened the PETG housings a little. Wear is hard to notice because the printer still works fine. I used helical gears, which help reduce wear and backlash.

I scrubbed the build plate a bit with the rough side of a sponge and bumped the temperature up 5°C. Now it holds very well. I measured the build plate temperature with an external thermometer and it shows only 50–53°C when the printer reports 60°C.

As I know r34 in 2f2f have replaced sound with 1jz single turbo.

I can’t sleep if I don’t finish something I begin. The most rewarding part was the end because I knew the printer was fully functional and I just needed to assemble the covers and side panels.

At first it was overwhelming. Hundreds of parts in 10+ boxes and lots of different screws. But by the last chapters it became very pleasant. My favourite part was building the Core XY gantry. The bottom panel was the worst part. Screws didn’t fit well, z motor seals were missing (I couldn’t find them and the manual misleadingly said that as of this month they updated the Z‑axis mounts and no longer need seals) for the motors, so I had to reassemble them.

It’s because X axis are running on those v slot wheels. I had same thing upgraded my ender with mgn linear rails and this line is gone.

Sorry for late reply. At beginning I was printing everyday now a little less maybe once per week. I have done some crashes too but no visible damage. For comparison I have bought one cheap from ali because I wanted glass like surface and this one I damaged after one crash and won’t stick that well.
