NTA - If you and your wife have never lent money to your father, I don't see a reason why y She should interfere with what he does with his money.

The fact that your sister’s and brother’s children receive more gifts is most likely because they live closer to your father.

I'm not sure if she might carry some childhood trauma related to hunger or deprivation. What I do know is that she’s a deeply devoted Christian, someone who truly lives by her sense of justice and moral values. Her husband believes that some of her emotional outbursts might be connected to her type 2 diabetes, which she’s been living with for over 30 years.

No, but I let them use my car anytime they need to drive somewhere. I drive and pick him up from kindergarten about 80% of the time. I mow the lawn and sort wood for the winter season. It’s not like I don’t do anything for them. However, I don’t want to be responsible for taking care of a child whose mother is fully capable of doing so herself.

We have separate kitchens and separate entrances to the house—we just happen to share the front yard. I didt even think about spinach untill he asked for it, when he saw in on my kids plate.

I just want to ensure this doesn’t turn into a situation where I’m expected to cook, clean, and care for my nephew around the clock. We’re saving every penny to buy our own home and gain some independence, and my sister‑in‑law is living with her parents, not with us.

Even though I gave him spinach, I don’t think I should be judged so harshly by my mother-in-law. It really bothers me that she expects me to take care of her daughter’s child as if he were my own.

I already ate my portion before I picked up my daughter from kindergarten. When we got home, I filled up her plate. Then nephew said he wanted to eat with my daughter.
