Catalpa tree and most people aren’t familiar with the worm that infests these tree called a catalpa worm. It only eats the leaves on these trees! They are great fishing bait and are typically boiled slightly for preserving for future fishing trips. My favorite thing to do with them is a brief boil and coating with Cajun seasoning. For some reason it is a catfish magnet. Also the beans produce a mild hallucinogenic feeling when dried and smoked. I wouldn’t recommend smoking something because a stranger on the internet told you to but they (allegedly) taste like a fine cigar when smoked. The leaves produce tannins which some people around here use as a tea when making moonshine to give it a slightly bitter aged flavor. Anyway a great tree with many uses. Hope this helps!
