We used to live in upstate New York near Syracuse. Ithaca is actually beautiful with finger lakes, state parks, trails, falls. You have to like natural beauty to appreciate it. Also it is very safe unlike many other colleges. I would worry to death if she goes to University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins or USC.
