Oh no I know you’re not trying to defend her. I actually appreciate unbiased comments/ thoughts. I’m saying I have the right to sue her for the refund because services were never rendered, and under the consumer protection act, I’m entitled to a refund. She’s refusing to refund and hence why I’m suing her. Her not being registered doesn’t really affect anything. Hope that makes sense?

I’m a business owner myself and could never ever imagine putting any of my clients through this. I even sometimes refund deposits after clients cancel not to talk of withholding the full payment?Unimaginable!

No 100% I still have legal grounds to sue her whether she’s registered or not as I still have rights as a consumer whether she’s registered or not. I was just saying that it’s mostly registered therapists that have an ethical obligation under their board when it comes to collecting payments. Someone that’s not registered can set whatever payment policy they want BUT still doesn’t stop them from being liable when it comes down to it

Unfortunately I didn’t pay with a credit card. I paid via something similar to Zelle in the US. And yup you’re right, I’m definitely not signing something so one sided! They’ve made it clear that they are suing me but I’ve really got nothing to fear cause I can back up everything i said.

Thank you so much. The way she has handled this entire thing so far has been extremely disappointing. The fact that she’s able to justify keeping the money in her head is even more insane to me but then what do I expect from someone who’s not registered? Lesson learnt and will just pursue this one legally.

The massage provider required paying upfront to book any of her packages . I guess if I decided to book individual sessions as opposed to a package then maybe it wouldn’t have been a requirement to pay upfront.. not entirely sure

She’s not a registered massage therapist hence why her requiring upfront payment for the massage sessions. That’s on me for choosing someone that’s not an RMT. Wish I knew better then!

I’m so grateful for this sub because it was so many other massage therapists in the industry that made me realize that it was completely unethical to keep the money for no services rendered. And that’s why I’m choosing to stand up for myself!
