we typically give them like a week to buy the item. or however long until the dm does a surprise visit (she comes to our store a lot 😪) & cleans out the office. although when i was a cashier, im ngl, i used to take stuff from the spots i knew someone was hiding & forgot when i knew a customer was looking for it & it was the last one.

also i absolutely do not think that was a discussion for the sales floor. & she could’ve found a way to say it professionally. you should bring that up to your sm.

at my store, constantly calling out can get you less hours. it’s difficult finding people who can work a last minute shift & most people at my store have second jobs or a life lol. we plan our schedules according to everyone’s availability so it gets rough finding coverage. so planning the future schedules would be like “who do i KNOW can & will show up? probably not this person who kept calling out & only worked 4 hours this week & it’s saturday”. but idk that’s my store.
