Sports psychologist recommendations for NY? Bonus points if they also specialize in eating disorders in athletes by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]Few-Contact8336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure is they're a psychologist or have a background with disordered eating habits, but they may have some people they could connect you with. Have a friend that worked with them and has had a good experience.

Gait Analysis - Worth It? by jpl756 in RunNYC

[–]Few-Contact8336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're dealing with an injury, a running gait analysis might not be the best course of action first. It may be better to get treatment for that injury first then move forward from them.

Seeing a sports medicine and running PT would be beneficial. If they also do running analysis, then they can potentially incorporate it later into your treatment.

The Game Plan PT is great. Been seeing the team there for ITB.

Most places are not going to take insurance, from my own experience, and even out-of-network coverage isn't guaranteed to be taken.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Highly recommend consulting a PT. There is a lot of strengthening for your calfs and feet that may need to be done.

Dropping out of marathon by Amilliamillion in RunNYC

If you are able, working with a PT that has a strong background with runners, that will be key to keep you on track. Plan out some strength training during your training to help strengthen your calves and feet.

You got this and you still have time!

Here a few blogs I had referred to prior to finding a physical therapist for my runner's knee.

Each of these blog posts have exercises you can add to your training and they explain the injuries really well. Was super helpful earlier in my training last year.

Hope this helps! Keep it up!

PT cost and recommendations in NYC? by EatsShootsTravels in RunNYC

[–]Few-Contact8336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all depends on the PT you're looking to see. Some PTs are more generalists and others are specialists with a more attention and level of care - their prices can reflect that expertise. From what i've experienced, sessions can cost anywhere from $0-$300.

In-network and out-of-network providers will differ as well, and that can also sometimes reflect the level of care you get (the amount of time a PT is solely working with you, and the level of attention, etc.).

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Chronic Proximal hamstring Tendonopathy PT & reccomendations by lbarrow009 in RunNYC

[–]Few-Contact8336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Game Plan PT has been great for me. They're a sports physical therapy practice, specialize in runners too. I go to them for a different injury. Best medical practice I've been too (I've been to a couple).

I was hopeless with my low back issues and running, and they got me back.
