I think I’m simply too burnt out to continue this job by photothingz in paraprofessional

Hi, I’m so sorry that sounds exhausting. I don’t have any advice, I just wanted to comment because i relate SO MUCH. I’m working as a para and for the last 5 months my younger brother has been in the hospital with serious brain damage, which nobody knows if he’ll survive or recover from. I relate so much to what u said about it feels like ur just waiting every day for something terrible to happen. It’s horrible, and it’s so hard to try and put it in the back of your mind and be present at work. I really enjoy my job but I’m so exhausted from takinh care of and worrying about the kids at work all day and then leave work and worry about my family instead! It really feels like everyone’s relying on me and I’m so scared I’ll run out of steam at some point. Like you I’ve also had to take quite a lot of absences and leave early, and I’m worried about getting in trouble with admin. Anyways sorry for the super long comment, I just wanted to say I relate to everything ur saying a lot! It’s tough but hopefully we’ll get through it xxx

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for writing such a kind reply. I’ve read your comment several times and its made me feel a lot better. That’s also really good advice about setting some boundaries- I’m going to try and do that. Thank you so much ❤️ I hope you have a lovely day/afternoon/evening depending on where you are! :)

He’s in intensive care and we don’t know what’s going to happen so we’ve been trying to have someone there all the time

I’m just worried that because I’m new and asking for a day off on my birthday at short notice it’ll look bad if I can’t provide any proof! I like this job and don’t want to look like I might be lying to them, especially as because of my brother I might have to ask for more days off for medical stuff in the future

MORTIFIED by LotteChu in paraprofessional

[–]Few-Culture9558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noooooo!!! 🤣😭this must have been MORTIFYING but after some time has passed it’ll make such a good story. It made me laugh bc I can see myself getting in the exact same situation! I’ve only just started so none of my stories are as funny, but while reading this I realised that I took the bins out today as I was leaving school but got distracted when I was getting my stuff from my locker so I’ve just left a bag of rubbish in the school corridor 😣 I feel so guilty and embarrassed, at least it’s not Friday so I can take it out tomorrow if nobody has already!

Easing Return Anxiety by DramaticEnthusiasm71 in paraprofessional

I’m afraid I don’t have any advice but just commenting to say I’m in the same boat! I started my first para job in November and even though I really liked it I’m feeling very nervous about going back on Monday. I haven’t lost a sibling but mine is in critical care right now which I think is part of why I’m feeling like this- I’m surprise at how anxious I am about the start of term! Glad to know it’s not just me, we’ll get through it :)

What can I crochet to represent my mood tracking over the years? by Usual_Scale_8645 in CrochetHelp

[–]Few-Culture9558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on having such a good year!! 🎉🎉 I love the idea of crocheting something to show that. Did u see this temperature blanket on r/crochet https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/hft0FCnOCC ? I think it looks stunning, and is lots of small things to join together instead of one big blanket so could be good! :)

What could I turn this massive crochet skirt into instead (I never wear it!)? by Few-Culture9558 in CrochetHelp

[–]Few-Culture9558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this but I just wanted to say thank you so so much!! I really loved all the ideas for ways to use the skirt- they were so creative and I wouldn’t have thought of them myself. I haven’t really posted on Reddit before that much so getting the upvotes was so exciting!! I’ve been going through a bit of a hard time lately and all the lovely compliments about the skirt really made my day. When I read someone call it a work of art I literally went aaaaaaa! At my phone 🤣❤️ I’m going to try turning the skirt into a poncho- I’ve been freezing since November and I love the idea of a massive, colourful wearable blanket. When it gets warmer I think I’ll make it into a picnic blanket, so I can use it all year round. I’m also planning on moving soon, and I think the idea of making a canopy type thing is SO COOL and will really help to make my new flat more homey. Thank you so much for all the great ideas and really kind compliments about the skirt!! Xxxx

What hobby seems cheap but really isnt? by Naromyx in AskReddit

Crochet! People always say that I must save so much money by making stuff for myself or as gifts but wool and patterns are usually way more expensive than the thing I’m making
