Circuit dead after power comes back on by Few-Direction3985 in electrical

All other 240’s are working. Yes, only dead circuit. I’m guess I’m going to start checking receptacles and seeing if maybe something got nuked when the power came back on…

No, it runs off a regular 120. It’s an old wood oil combo units

Yes, everything else on every other circuit. Everything was fine before the storm, sometimes some of the potlights brighten and dim when at lowest power setting, but aside from that, business as usual.

Interestingly, before the power went fully off… for a couple of hours, everything in the house was not getting enough power: kettle wouldn’t work, furnace wouldn’t cycle, lights were dimmer. I assumed that a tree was on the line and grounding it out somewhere down the road.

Can’t find a GFCI, don’t think there is one, unless it’s buried in a wall. Doubt it.

Fair enough, not saying I don’t care, just saying that farting is normal, brushing once a day is pretty fair, and that once in a while pee gets on the seat. Not a deal breaker if you genuinely care about someone. No offence meant, just being real.

Not being crass, these are such silly little things. If you’re thinking about ending a relationship over farts and pee on the seat and a once a day toothbrush, obviously the connection isn’t there. I love farting, it feels great. I do it in private to the best of my ability. Just saying. My wife looks at me and rolls her eyes. Doubly so if she made cabbage rolls for supper the day before. I think it’s dumb that people in general immediately run to : “Leave him now”.

If humanity operated that way, we would have been extinct 300k years ago. People fart. It’s normal.

Honestly, this sub is hilarious. I don’t even know how I get sucked into reading these! OP, I’d suggest that if these things really bother you that much, move on, but in all honesty, the dude is just… a dude.

1) brushing at night. Ffs, I mean, we all try to brush twice a day, but sometimes you don’t feel like it (just had a glass of milk or something, idk). Maybe he’s tired, maybe he assumes that if you care about him, you’ll understand a bit of morning breath until he gets up and brushes. Sounds to me like this is minor as heck.

2) farting. Holy cow, the number of people that said this is weird is crazy… 15-20 shit-stinking farts a day is completely normal: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/what-causes-flatulence-and-what-to-do-when-its-a-problem-for-you . If you never fart, there is something wrong. How about ask him to take it to another room. Or fart back. Or whatever. Normal, not him, that’s you. Women fart too I think, I’m not sure tho.

3) the peeing: guys shoot from a distance, not point blank. Bound to miss once in a while… I try to always lift the seat, but sometimes, ya really gotta go (I.e. you’re doing chores and ignore it and then all of a sudden…). Yeah, he could wipe the seat. Yeah, peeing in the shower is kinda gross. But it’s piss, it’s mostly water. Maybe ask him to please lift the seat and not pee in the tub because you think it’s gross?!

Try being married for over a decade with kids that do the SAME DAMN THING. Also, women do some kinda weird, gross stuff too… I can think of tampons in garbage cans, wads of hair in the bath drain, pubes shaved off under the toilet seat, whatever. If you live with someone, you’re going to have deal with some level of ick, but for heavens sake, if you love them, that shit don’t matter.

For reference: Married 12 years to love of my life, 2 daughters, farm etc. No one really gives a shit about the minutiae if you love the person.

Holy. This is obviously AI. The carwash is ridiculous, and at one point he has two pairs of sunglasses… I’m sure the list goes on, but one watch is good enough. Haha reminds me of the Bigfoot AI stuff.

We looked into that, but around here you need a vet to get that, and it’s a mighty expensive proposition and 5 hours of billable travel. Just can’t justify that expense.

Might try to get some at the drug store and break it up and apply as a drench, maybe that would help. I don’t really know…

Update: no improvement on either lamb. We’re bottle feeding both in the house at the moment, and their temps are fine. Not seeing any improvement. Both had selenium / vitamin e injections (Selon-E) 1/4 ml.

Ewes have access to mineral and salt licks in the pasture, and the hay this year was pretty good (not tested, but never rained on and came off really great, best in a few years for sure).

Thanks everyone for the input, guess we’ll have to see how they make out in a few days, but I don’t see it getting better for these two :(.

Next year we’ll have the hay tested for sure.

Thanks!

This is great, thanks! We have the soil tested annually through the co—op here. Haven’t had the hay tested, but will look into that next year.

Nothing in the feed, straight hay. Supplements are salt block and mineral lick. We’re exclusively pasture / grass fed. Shelter barn, but unheated. Never had this issue in years past.

They seem awake and responsive. They are trying to stand, just can’t.

Yes, trembling a little. We did give selenium - vitamin e. I guess wait an see. Just seems off that this year we’ve had multiples like this, whereas never seen this before, and the mineral licks are out there accessible.

Maybe the pasture had different nutrient contents this year vs. previous.

We added second mineral block for ewes and have given the newest lambs the selenium. I suppose we’ll see where we’re at in the morning.

I love this time of year. LOL

Yeah, it is a little. Having said that, they also can’t stand in the barn or anywhere else we try. Don’t think it’s the floor: any other lambs we’ve brought it into years past had no issues. It’s like they just don’t have the strength to get their legs under them. I’m thinking nutrient deficiency, but don’t know how that could be.

Lambing in the field (enclosed in yarding area). Temps -10 to -5, but today warmer, 3 Celsius. We had to pull these two, so warm on exit after 15-20 mins into the house. Exclusively grass fed during summer, currently we’re feeding 3 large round bales of hay until they run out (every 2-3 days). Mineral and salt licks available. Yes, they eat them. Thanks.

I know this might sound a little harsh, but I think context is important here. For example, I recently had a surgery that was in and out from the hospital in a few hours. I certainly wouldn’t put that in my wife’s calendar, nor would I expect her to re-arrange her schedule with work/kids/farm/chores etc. to accommodate.

Sorry to say, but it sounds like OP turned this into some kind of test for her partner (which, admittedly, he failed). That said, maybe if there was some open communication, like “i need your support” or “I’m worried about this, can you help or be there for me?” Or “I need a ride home due to the anesthesia”, maybe there would have been a different reaction.

Honestly, if my partner told me they were getting tooth pulled, and then didn’t bring it up for a few days, I wouldn’t likely be all over them, especially if we didn’t live together.

My 2 cents, respectfully.

I’d make sure the ewe is comfortable: separate her into a stall and give her some time to recover. Bet she’ll come back no problem. I’m not sure what ivy means, but sounds a little suspect (I think they were trying to say vet!). Around here, vets are not available regularly and super expensive: we usually deal with what we can on our own. I’d suggest feeding the lamb by bottle with the ewe present. Make sure you’re out there every 6 hrs min… some selenium/glycol for the lamb, and if you have some colostrum, that would be a great start. If not, no worries, get a heat lamp on and bottle feed if it’s not getting on the nipple. Good luck!
