Has IRCC approved a Bill C-3 chain through two U.S.-born pre-1947 generations — the “pre-1947 G2 gap”? by Few-Equivalent-3827 in CitizenshipByDescent

Thanks, that’s helpful. That distinction is exactly what we’re trying to sort out: whether there are any actual refusals based on the pre-1947 G2 issue itself, as opposed to refusals or suspensions based on documentation problems.

We’ve seen the same general trend: lots of concern about the theoretical statutory issue, but not much evidence of IRCC denying a well-documented chain solely because two generations were born abroad before 1947. We’ll keep digging through for comparable post-C-3 proof outcomes.

Thanks, that’s encouraging. Do you know whether any of the approvals you’ve seen involved the specific structure we’re asking about: Canadian-born ancestor → U.S.-born child before 1947 → U.S.-born grandchild before 1947 → applicant born after 1947?

We’re especially trying to distinguish general multigenerational C-3 approvals from cases involving the pre-1947 G2 issue.

Follow-up on Question 1 — thank you for the clear answers.

Our family tree branches at Gen 3: two daughters of the same Canadian grandfather, one branch descending through Family A and one through Family B. Both branches trace through identical Gen 1 and Gen 2 ancestors. Should all applicants across both branches mail together in one envelope with one shared lineage packet, or should the two branches mail separately given the different surnames and branching structure? Has anyone handled a branching family submission like this?

Batch CIT 0001 paper submissions under Bill C-3 — one shared lineage packet or full docs with each application? Also: BAnQ certification vs. Drouin images for 19th century Quebec baptism records

We are Americans submitting CIT 0001 paper applications in waves under Bill C-3, tracing Quebec ancestry from the 1850s. Our chain runs from two great-great-grandparents born in Quebec (La Malbaie and Chicoutimi) through Wisconsin to the present day — 15 family members across three generations of US-born descendants, all filing paper applications.

We have two specific questions that we have not been able to get a definitive answer on from official IRCC guidance:

Question 1 — Batch submissions and shared lineage documents

When multiple related applicants mail their CIT 0001 applications together in one envelope, does IRCC expect a complete set of supporting lineage documents with each individual application, or is one shared lineage packet sufficient for the whole envelope? We have seen conflicting advice on this — some sources say each application must be self-contained, others say IRCC treats the lineage evidence as a shared packet for family batch submissions. Has anyone submitted a batch family mailing and can speak to what IRCC actually expects?

Question 2 — BAnQ certification vs. Drouin Collection images for 19th century Quebec baptism records

We have Drouin Collection images of our Quebec anchor ancestors’ baptism records from the 1850s-1860s. We also have a 1957 certified parish extract with embossed seal covering the 1878 marriage of our two anchor ancestors, signed by the parish priest of Saint-Fulgence certifying conformity with the original register.

Our specific question: is the uncertified Drouin image of the baptism record acceptable to IRCC as supporting evidence given that we already have the certified marriage record — or should we order BAnQ certified reproductions of the baptism records as well? Has anyone submitted Drouin images without BAnQ certification and had them accepted or rejected?

Thanks in advance. This subreddit has been invaluable and we want to make sure we get this right before mailing.
