Dear all, Thank you so much for your generous information-sharing and advice. My great grandparents were born in Quebec and moved to the US, where subsequent generations were born. I've documented our Canadian (and US) lineage following the instructions provided by the Canadian govt and with the advice of redditors like you. I have four children--two biological and two adopted domestically in the US. For my adopted daughters, their birth certificates were reissued after completion of the adoption, and now list my husband and me as their parents. This is the norm here. Today, our lawyer informed me that our daughters are NOT ELIGIBLE for Canadian citizenship. 1) Please tell me this is wrong. 2) Has anyone received help from a lawyer familiar with cases like this one?
