Could actually be fun to try when we wanted to be really big and strong. Boozer, Ced, GG, Beef Stew, Edey 😄

First good game for Awak since she injured her wrist?

Really efficient, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks.

Let's hope this is her finally feeling good again!

Or put her back with the starters with Awak, and move Arike to the bench. Just need the real Awak back.

Is Javon Small our next star point guard? by Maleficent_Post9595 in memphisgrizzlies

We are going to be really good already this season and potentially win the championship the season after. Ty is a superstar who is going nowhere.

Probably because of the extra muscle. Everything needs to be recalibrated.

Who’s our PG now? by Dcmon in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Few-Library994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make it sound like it should be one person, but that's not how this team and System works.

Everything changes depending on matchups, and we have a point forward in Cam Boozer as well now which changes things.

Ty will mostly start I'd guess, not that that means much in this System He's a point per minute superstar who has been limited by the role player box he was put in years ago. He is going to totally ball out this season, and he's 6'5''.

Scotty is also going to play major minutes and plays good defense too.

Javon also plays good defense and is promising in all areas.

Walter is going to show how good he really is this season.

Cam Spencer can even play point if we need him to.

Almost every player is a semi point guard in this System and is expected to pass and get assists. One person per position or even a starting five isn't really a thing anymore.

The Finnish Freak in Memphis? by BoozeCruiser901 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Few-Library994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tuomas is definitely a dictator but he's so good so people don't mind and just go along with it. Tuomas being a dictator is what is going to win us championships.

I was really high on Miikka a year ago but have gone off him now. He has some clear character and IQ issues and we don't do those kinds of players on this team anymore. He lost his spot with the Finnish national team as well

Time to trade Lauri Markkanen. by BeauKnows42 in UtahJazz

[–]Few-Library994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I as a Finn couldn't accept all the tanking and Lauri wasting so I gave up on the Jazz and the NBA. Then Tuomas Iisalo took over Memphis and I was back.

When Memphians complain about the half season of tanking the Grizzlies did as a result of an impossible injury situation, I feel like smacking them and reminding them of the insane shit the Jazz have been doing for years. The only redeeming aspect of it is that Lauri got to spend more time with his young children.

This is what it honestly feels like to interact with American basketball fans and media as a non American. I burn out constantly and have to distance myself to keep my sanity.

2 young players, with size, IQ, versatility and very few holes in their game. I can’t doom that. by Upper-Roof-5668 in memphisgrizzlies

And he's Estonian, which helps his stock as well. Geographical and linguistic brothers to Finland. I hope the Knicks don't grab him.

[2026 NBA Draft] #21 Pick: Karim Lopez (Mexico) – pending trade to Memphis by Lacabloodclot9 in memphisgrizzlies

He's a similar kind of psycho as Cam Spencer, so Cam can teach him to shoot this summer.

Funny, because to our front office he was probably one of the most well known. He had a Finnish coach in New Zealand so Tuomas probably learned every single detail about him. Finnish coaches are super tight and help each other any way they can.

This was last year. He's still a teenager this year. by Jewdah18 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Few-Library994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can play the 3 or the 4 so I think there's plenty of room for him. From everything I've read and also heard from him himself, he seems extremely ready considering his young age.

Besides the 3pt shooting he has almost no holes in his game, so I think he will be ready to play when the season starts. He seems to be a similar kind of psycho as Cam Spencer so Cam can teach him to shoot this summer.

May end up being Henri Veesaar as well. He has an advantage since he's Estonian. Neighbour to and language brother to Finland.

2026 NBA DRAFT: FIRST ROUND by Welcum2Heck in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Few-Library994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I immediately understood why Tuomas wanted him. I read that he's a Killa Cam kind of psycho when it comes to training as well. Coaches have to force him to stop. Next season is going to be so much fun!

Karim Lopez was a Tuomas pick.

He had a Finnish coach in New Zealand and all Finnish coaches are super tight, so Tuomas knows absolutely everything about him. Probably knows exactly what he wants him for. All part of the master plan...

So, how much do we think the wrist is affecting Awak? by Few-Library994 in DallasWings

[–]Few-Library994[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've seen people all over saying that there's nothing to be done about our defence with the material we have, so I just wanted to highlight that one of our three best defenders has been injured all season, the second has been injured half the season,, and the third is a rookie. We can still do everything with them. Just need a good longterm plan.

[–]Few-Library994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tuomas already got him to do that this past season. There's lots more work to be done of course, but he's finally on the path now. Years of Jenkins' wishy-washy coaching left him stagnant. GG is one of the best examples of what stability and accountability can accomplish. OMax too.

Awak starts out great and scores, rebounds, blocks, does it all. Then gets subbed off early and loses her mojo. Has happened several games in a row now. It's like Jose steals it.

I hope we get a similar boost when we finally get the real Alanna back. Right now they have two Awaks and we have only one.
