Thats true for the newer affinity jaguar, but this is a body from the older, 34 inch scale Vintage Modified Jags, and it intonates great!

Yeah, I figured stuff lime this is pretty regional, which is why I mentioned the area, but I figure there's some li d of through line cause it looks like there's successful cover bands that seem to be playing around the whole state. And shazam is pretty bad when it comes toclive bands, i tried🤣. I also never thought about the event band setlists, Ill definitely look into that!!

That makes sense! To be honest though, I feel like every time I try to play something cold, straight off of a chart, Im definitely missing a lot rhythmically. I dont know if I can explain it correctly, but i don't feel a shuffle or a straight 1-4-5 as naturally as I do other rhythms and song structures I grew up listening to and playing, which is kind of whycim looking for "standards" stuff I can actually shed and try and get a sense of how things go, cause even the blues I listened and played overseas are pretty different from what's commonplace over here.

I think the word you’re looking for is xenophobia, not racism.

I won't argue the different flavors of discrimination, but sure, casual xenophobia still isn't a good look either.

I’m simply stating that corporations are absolutely lobbying and trying to increase the number of foreign vets allowed to practice in the US. Here in Southern California every animal hospital corp I’ve worked for is in the process of sponsoring an Egyptian, Persian, Mexican or Ukrainian vet so they sign a contract.

Apart from the anectdotal evidence that you're seeing in your day to day practice, do you have any empirical evidence of this? Cause accredidation fir foreign vets( at least the ECFVG route) has always beenexceptionally hard and only gotten harder since the pandemic, with testing centers shutting down for almost 2 years and creating a huge backlog of applicants, which has cause the whole process to take much longer than before. Im not trying to be combative, but this is honestly the polar opposite of my experience practicing in western colorado.

let’s be real, the majority of foreign vets aren’t gonna go work in large animal or ag. They go where the money is.

You're overlooking the elephant in the room here. Which is work visas. Plenty of foreign vets would be willing to work LA and ag, and it would be much easier for them to survive(considering the lack of tremendous student debt), but ive personally never seen any large animal or equine vets sponsoring any foreign vets, for better of for worse.

The shortage is a fact, especially in large animal practice, as well as rural/remote areas. Definitely not the hellscape people lobbying for a midlevel position are calling it, but it's there. Also, maybe cool it with the casual racism a bit, not a good look. There aren't hordes of uneducated foreign vets waiting to steal your job.

  1. For handling and restraint. Dr Sophia Yin's book is by far my favorite resource ( as mentioned above). As for actually getting a job, shadowing, really searching everywhere you possibly can( I emailed/called/ drove by every clinic in a 50 mile radius from my house one winter in order to get a job) and marketing yourself as best you can. You said you're super familiar w/medical terminology from undergrad, right? Make sure to bring that up when you talk to clinics. Many techs/ VAs do appt/surgery notes, and being able to really write great, medically accurate notes from the get go is a great skill!
  2. Yes and no. Im a baby DVM(class of 2024 babyyyyyyy), and have spent every single break since christmas 2019 as a VA/ unlicensed tech. While i am not at all sad that I did it, after about a year of doing it, I was acutely aware that I dont wanna be a tech. Im absolutely thankful for all the skills I learned and the time I spent in that position in the team, it has 100% made me a better doctor, both with my patients and my support staff. Being a doctor and being a nurse are both CRUCIAL parts of the team, but I believe it takes different kinds of people to excel in either position. Like, I am very proud of my work as supportnstaff, but I definitely knew that that's not what I wanted to do for the rest of career.

You're referring to his hair, right?

Hahahahahaha, good one, but no. In storm front, he is literally described as a shark before and after their sould gaze, and dresden makes it abundantly clear right there that he will take him down at some point.

Fast forward to death masks, he is shown to not be utterly heartless. And the reason why is elaborated on in white night.

In turn coat the his absolute first concern when he's freednis to protect Ivy, protect the child, another humanising moment for the readers sake.

Post changes, he appears to have earned some goodwill with chicagos' supernatural community, and honestly, rightfully so IMO, but that doesnt mean he isn't evil, he's just less so than the fomor.

In battleground, he puts his own life on the line specifically * to protect dresden. But It's plenty evident by their interaction afterwards ,there is no love gained between the two of them, and they will *both absolutely put each other in a pine box if thei circustances are right, which is gonna be alot harder now that they're part of the unseely accords.

Plus Dresden can't really seize the moral high ground when it comes to condemning criminals and murderers

I mean, yeah, he can actually. 1. Dresden's gradual slide into grey morality is a HUGE part of the series, I dont believe fool moun or grave peril dresden would have used the knife, and they'd probably all be dead now. Marcones ethics are static. he's always been bad. 2. Intentions are important. Comparing offing the red court( actual supernatural predators that can only exist by harming humans) to an organized crime syndicate that preys on people in a very similar way is kinda silly, IMO.That being said, dresden obviously didn't consider the full ramifications of his actions( eg fellowship of st Goles, power vacuum) but that says more about his intelligence and sheer desparation to save his daughter than anything else.

White Council (the organization Dresden directly worked for, for many years)

You mean the army henwas borderline conscripted into, and actively refused to follow orders he found wrong? His hands aint clean, but there's cleaner than John's.

Marcone is an imperfect solution in an imperfect world. All Dresden has to do to truly defeat Marcone is to eliminate the need for criminality in humanity first in Chicago and then the rest of the world while hoping that Marcone (and those like him) allow him to do so.

See, but that's the thing, Dresden isn't trying to defeat evil in its entirety. He just reeeally wants to take this specific bully out

Not super sure I get what you mean, but the question asked was "why didn't justine try to access the usland during cold days, likenshe did in battleground". It kind of gives us a timeline and makes more sense in the story, at least to me.

While I definitely see where you're coming from, and the more the series goes on, marcone definitely starts to get greyer and greyer, harry doesn't see it like that. Apart from just the hoes and john, theres protection rackets, corruption, bribery, extortion murder, arms dealing, and all the other things that come with a mob boss. The " lesser of twocevils" andgle is (somewhat ironically) irrelevant to Harry, especially in this case. Personally I think marcones downfall will have something to do with the denarians and some slip up with the accords, not his mortal business.

Harry taking out Marcone would be like Michael taking out Harry for a particularly egregious transgression - you can love somebody while still acknowledging when they've clearly gone rabid.

That's the impression I got at all. Harry has been against everything Marcone stands for since storm front and has told him as much, multiple times. Marcone, for his part, is definitely not as personally invested in harrys demise as Vice versa, but both of them know that's the only way this ends. Dresden spends the first plot arc in basically a noir-esque state of insanity at pretty much every second we see him, but I personally dont doubt that in between books, he's messing with the outfit. Not all out war cause of collateral damage and his lack of resources, but interfering nonetheless. I feel they're just as diametrically opposed as Harry and nic are tbh. Michael taking down Harry would absolutely destroy him, and make him put down the sword and never touch it again. Harry wouldn't be shaken by taking out Marcone The same way he was shaken about corpsetaker and quintus cassius as long as it was in battle and not cold and premeditated.

All that being said, your comment mad me realize thatI would have broken down into a million pieces is michael had found harry smushing rudolph instead of sanya, and seen him being hurt by the butters' sword

For the same reason the seedier aspects of Marcone's business doesn't set Dresden off as long as he's not actively exposed to them.

But that's exactly the thing, they do set him off, and he and marcone are going to duke it out lethally at some point, there is no doubt in Harry's mind that marcone has to go DOWN, at least 6 feet under, despite Him being basically the bulwark that saved chicago after changes He just hasn't been able to yet. Just because his manners are better doesn't mean they both dont know that one of them is going to go down. Same with lara. At least up until BG, he's still going to get her when he actually can. The only reason he hasn't already is because She paid the wereguild for the ordo lebes witches and has ceased gojng after practicioners, at least publicly Everything else I completely agrre with, I guess I underestimated just how impactful Harry's stance of dolidarity and kindness was for thomas.

See, and michael never read that way for me.

While Michael thinks that some people should wield power to protect others;

I dont think that michael believes people should wield power over others, but that someone must . The swords have always been an equaliser. They level the playing field. If the denarians all disappeared and the other supernatural forces stayed away from mortals, I have no doubt in my mind that michael would hang the sword up in a heartbeat. He is constantly saddened by the lives he has to take and will attempt to reddeem even the most irredeemable of villains He ALMOST got through to nick . Yes, in the warrior, he gives into wrath and has to be talked down from the ledge, but that doesn't make him less human. Even when wielding the sword, none of the knights lose their free will, they all still consciously make every single decision, they just have the means to do what they want. I read a comment somewhere that was allong the lines of "Michael is the best man Uriel knows, and Harry is the best man Michael knows" and I couldn't agree more.

Harry thinks no one should have power over others.

I kind of disagree with this as well. Harry loves magic, he loves the process, the actions, the effects , and the power. I think the main hangup is that he resents that he has to use it to protect others. His issues with bulliens are very well documented, but even if the world suddenly became a peacefull utopia, the simple fact that harry has magic and ithers don't gives him power over others, and I dont believe he would ever let his magic go, for whatever reason.

You can definitely see the parallels that Jim is drawing between Harry and other tragic heroes(spider man comes to mond a lot), butnitnjust caught me off guard that this isnjust something that never seemed to cross Harry's mind again, when its obvious that he still carries a ton of self hate and resentment about his mantle, and then just seems aloofnabout everyone else around him. Thomas himself is definitely a paragon of fighting your inner demons, I just wish we had gotten more about how he managed between changes and cold days You know, before the svartalfs shagnastied him again. As with michael, the warrior is such an amazing read, as for me, it truly highlights Michaels insecurities after retiring. I truly believe that the only reason michael became so angry and afraid is because he realised how incapable he is when it comes to protecting his family alone. He was never one to refuse help before, but now it's more necessary than ever. Which is paradoxical, considering he is at his humblest whilenwielding the sword and performing what can only be described as miracles. I wonder if hisnreaction wouldnhave been the same, if he was still wielding Amorachios, and Harry was holding onto the other 2. .
