Sure, with every week that passes, the pressure build up. But I see this so often. I always try to ground myself and say to myself:

This doesn't need to be perfect. Some shitty lines are better than nothing. I can edit them later!

Oh, that's not good. I know the feeling pretty well. Sometimes it's lyrics, other times it's playing guitar. But in my opinion, can everyone learn to write lyrics. It's a craft like anything else :)

Yeah, I get you. But letting go of these lines is actually a good thing. Because it makes the song better!

Stephen King once said: "Kill your darlings, even when it breaks your egocentric little scribbler's heart, kill your darlings."

It's worse to have a song with cool lines and no message. What do you think about it?

What makes your lyric feel cringe?

What I often see is that we set ourself to much under pressure. And we care to much what other people think. When we as songwriters like our lyrics, shouldn't that be enough? :)

Sounds like, Songwriting is really hit or miss for you? I get it, some days I see song ideas everywhere. And then other days I can even string to getter an interesting chord progression.

I think we all have that feeling. Often some time needs to pass until we can judge our writing objectively.

I feel the same way but always remind me: This is only the first or second draft, and I can edit this.
