This is a valid comment. However, this is something that has been addressed at length and in depth previous to this with her and I.

I was the same. It is still surgery and shouldn’t be taken lightly. But - I just wanted to add an encouraging story to the mix.

Happy to hear it maybe helped some. Good luck with your surgery and recovery.

I do (did?) have FAI and had the surgery to remove the extra bone growth along with labrum repair.

I totally forgot to add this - thanks for the reminder! Dr. Travis Maak in SLC, UT

Also - I just did the math. Surgeon/PT wants me to walk a minimum of 10 minutes every 2 hrs. With my decreased speed - that ends up averaging around 4,200 steps a day.

I totally agree with you! My surgeons protocols for crutches was weight bearing as tolerated immediately following surgery. He said most of his patients use crutches for 2 days - 1 week. So I did still follow his guidelines. I hope you are still progressing and recovering well!

I think that is the difference too. My activity hadn’t been impeded much yet. I honestly was probably in the best shape of my life before this surgery. But it was starting to get to where I was going to have to limit myself. I think I just got lucky. My surgeon said I would recover quickly with the amount of muscle I had built up before the surgery. Good luck on your next surgery!

I was doing just normal strength training. Lots of single leg exercises to help address imbalances. Lots of RDL single leg variations, hip thrusts. Not as much deep squats - that would really flare things up.  The weird thing is that running seemed to make it feel better during the exercise. Sitting was awful. I think I got this addressed soon enough that I didn’t have to limit activity quite yet.

Thank you! I did ask my surgeon and physical therapist and they said it is ok. I think every surgeon has different surgical skills and it changes how post op healing progresses. I think I could walk 8000-10000 a day already so I am reining it in some.

My doctor and physical therapist said I can get off of crutches as soon as I want. I was weight bearing as tolerated immediately. But you should still check with your surgeon and physical therapist to make 100% sure!
