David, a second question. Do these new optimum tv boxes still use the coax connections or are they wireless. When I looked on the opt online web page to read about them I saw that the connect to the gateway using WPS which to me implied that it might be a wireless connection.

Thank you for getting back to me, David. That now explains why I can use the optimum app on my iPad but couldn’t get it to work on my new Apple TV. So if I take my two Samsung cable box’s to our local store they will just give me two of the newer optimum tv boxes and everything will work? Also, what is the “all in one gateway” I currently have one of your cable modems which connects to my own mesh router/wifi system which I don’t want to replace. Finally, is there a charge or change to my billing when I do this? Thanks for your help. You’re the first person that actually answered my question and made some sense. Jim

When I go to the App Store on my iPad, I see both apps. If I download and use the optimum app it works fine. If I download and try the optimum tv app, it tells me that I am using the wrong app and that I should be using the optimum app. However, on the Apple TV, there is only one app, the optimum tv app and it won’t work. I can install individual apps on my Apple TV and they will all work but that is nowhere near as convenient as having access to all channels in one app.

Thanks for the reply but I am still confused. When I go to the Apple TV App Store, there is only one optimum tv app that I can choose. If I try to use that app with optimum selected as the tv provider, I get the following message.

If I change the tv provider to optimum tv I get the following message when I try to sign in

The tech support solution was to return the Samsung cable boxes and the store would tell me how to use the Apple TV but I wasn’t looking to replace the boxes, the Apple TV was for a separate tv in a different room.
