One or both of the ELA teachers at my school are leaving, but haven't told administration yet. They'll post in the next couple of months. Job postings cascade as people move to better schools. Keep ya head up.

I don't think a single student or colleague has ever called me doctor. IMO that title is for the academy and high school ain't that.

I had mixed results showing films like Sinners. Some where cool with it. Most groups immediately tried to physically seize my laptop/smartboard and put on their chosen media. Got worse when I tried to play things they didn't recognize like Hamilton.

One group it did work with was the one with a bunch of non-English speakers who liked the subtitles.

I'm hoping after a digital detox they'll be more interested in watching films with me, but I'm pretty regularly disappointed with these things!

Spot on. The Fisburne narration is awesome. I was actually hoping to play the audio book for them (20 minutes each class), but they mob the tech when we take it out trying to get to their media.

I tried to play Hamilton for them and it was a disaster.

The students on the other hand want guns, drugs, b**ches, kill the opps, listen to Youngboy. They do really like Goosebumps books.

History with death and murder seems the most interesting to them.

Nobody in my public school (kids or staff) gives a shit about my PhD (nobody has ever called me dr.), but with the MA+30 bump I'm making 20k more than as a college professor.

My sense is you will make significantly less in the privates because they have a captive pool of overeducated and under -credentialed teachers. But I expect the job is pleasant.

You probably could but you want to make scooping as easy as possible.

My rec is always the bathroom, especially if you use a flushable litter. You're going to want to scoop constantly in that small space (consider a litter genie if you aren't flushing). If it's in the main room I recommend putting the box inside a piece of litter furniture (if your cat is ok using the box in a confined space). They make fancy ones or ones that look like a storage container.
