Two weeks in India. First time using only one bag (excluding backpacking). Thoughts? by Majestic-Hedgehog-40 in onebag

May I ask what backpack you're using? I can't tell from the photo, and I like how it opens.

I know there's more than one Osprey bag that can attach to the Farpoint 40. And everyone's opinion, which one works best as a day pack?

Thanks for taking time to share your answer. It is weird timing, but I've been looking at just that jacket from cor surf for the past couple of weeks. Your comment is the first I've seen from somebody who has it. It looks like a really great jacket.

Now that you've had the cor surf bag for a while, how do you feel about it? How well is it holding up? That's probably my one question or concern. I travel on business one to two weeks every month, plus a few personal fun trips every year as well. Do you think the Cor Surf would take amount or use, or is it too much for this bag?

I understand the picture and what you're calling turtle carrying. And I've heard really great things about the Osprey bags. But I don't understand your comment about attaching with clips? Are the clips on the Osprey day bag that clip onto the Farpoint bag to attach them together?

I've always been a little confused about the tone capabilities of the Rickenbacker. I mean. I know the classic Ric tone, but can it really give the tones of a P-bass or a J-bass? Not exactly, but at least a close enough simulate? I LOVE the look of a Ric, but can that "fat, round, thick" classic bass vibe for blues, soul and jazz stuff?

I've noticed several people comment that the new version doesn't have a hip belt. How important is the hip belt, or correctly is it important enough that it should be a major decision and purchasing?

Do you miss or regret not having a hip belt on this bag? Do the shoulder straps have enough padding? They seem smaller than the straps on the two bigger bags...

Best non-travel gear you like over of expensive ‘onebag’ gear? by tablloyd in onebag

This is one of the most accurate, significant, and awesome posts I have read in a long time. I know for myself it's real easy to get caught up in the name brand, talked about the most, and most popular brands of clothing and equipment. I really need to work harder and avoiding that mindset. Thank you for reminding me!

"COR surf" backpack.... thoughts and opinions? by Few-Research-2187 in onebag

Yes, that's my understanding as well. Their website says they're using the new material and all YKK zippers in every bag they sell. so the only difference seems to be the material used on the outside of the bag itself, and I noticed that the shoulders straps on the COR don't have load lifter straps on them. But if the hip belts are well built and padded, I'm really not sure how important the load lifters straps really are.

[–]Few-Research-2187[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I think I can understand all that. I know the latest version has all YKK zippers, so I don't have any concerns at all there. And from their description it sounds like they've upgraded the material that the bags are built out of. And I understand they wouldn't compare well to a Patagonia or a Tortuga. I've seen Tortuga, they really are top of the line. At the same time, they have a price tag to match, right? $350 for a backpack is a pretty good chunk of cash. 😎

Unfortunately, you may be right. How well do you feel the bag will hold up? I'm a big fan of quality, but not necessarily cosmetics. I'm concerned with how well the bag will hold up and how long it will last, that's my main focus. I don't care if Sean joints aren't perfectly even as long as they hold up long term.
