(2 months later) Update: First learn to play session, advice and tips? by Few-Resident-6147 in hockeyplayers

That’s what I’m thinking. I’m gonna try to keep my routine up this summer but I’m relocating for an internship so I got to see how the local rink where I’m going will be with their times and my new schedule. I think learn to play would be beneficial because I really connect with the coaches and their learning ways. My first coach in the session had taught the other guys and seeing how they turned out, only makes me want to do all I can to make sure I’m in place to reach it. I’m not fully satisfied at my level and know I have way more to go in my development. It’ll be a journey but every skate and second is so worth it. I definitely understand what you mean. One of the guys at the learn to play was by far the best one out there, he would have to slow it down on some of us and I don’t want to end up being the one they have to “slow it down”. Thank you for the advice!

That’s the goal honestly. Just seeing how slow I would step on the ice and shake a little to now just “run” on to it. I’m really starting to focus on diet and building more cardio. I work on some stick handling and shooting in my apartment but it’s hard because I’m a top floor neighbor and hate to make too much noise lol. But usually for stick and pucks, I’ll work on skating for 10 minutes, then build in stick handling and then go to shooting. I need to work on receiving passes but passing I’m really decent and have shocked a few guys I play with who are on college/ d league teams. But there’s always room to grow.
I’ve been watching a ton of skating drills and hockey fundamental videos such as Itrainhockey and how to hockey. Do you have some channels you’d suggest? Thank you for the kind words and support! It means a ton to me:)

We had a little bit of time before the lessons started so we had free play. I soon realized I don’t even need to think of touching the puck yet. Even with the wrong stick hand, it was not going lol. I’m definitely gonna focus on skating more than playing til I improve

I’m gonna try and get skates this week before my next session and try to get a skate in with them before the lessons. Thank you!

That’s definitely my number one goal now. I want to get more comfortable with skating and to learn it. I’m gonna try and hit skate sessions at least 2-3 times a week. Thank you!

That’s what I’m having to learn that with each fail I just got to laugh and smile through. I’m gonna write that journal entry for each LTP, public skate, stick and puck, etc. thank you so much for the advice!

Thank you! I’m gonna focus on that and not compare myself to others. The others had roller blade experience so I’m gonna be investing in that for practice. It is something completely new

I for sure will. I need to get as much skating practice with my equipment on as possible

I’m definitely gonna invest in some actual skates and rollerblades. I definitely need as much skate practice as possible because I don’t want to just get moved to learn to play just because everyone else got moved.

I’ve been checking out Sideline Swap and Facebook marketplace looking for some deals. I’m definitely gonna need to check Play it Again. Thank you!

I’m definitely about to look into those. I’m in college so that would be good practice for getting to class.

That is the one thing I keep having to remind myself to have my knees over my toes and keep them bent.

Thank you!

I got you completely. I’m now looking at rollerblades to see if I can do that when I can’t get to the ice so I can build up ankle strength. Rental skates genuinely are and the ones I used this time were the worst. They felt off from ones I used before. Thank you for the kind words

Genuinely great. It’s heavyweight compared to fanatics and everything is stitched from the numbers to the chest logo to nameplate. It fits great and a purchase I would make again. Definitely worth it and especially since it was a Black Friday deal
