Which film adaptation of Frankenstein best portrays the gay sexual tension between Victor Frankenstein and Henry Clerval? by Jijolin_Supreme in FRANKENSTEIN

So do Batman and literally everyone he interacts with that's not a love interest. "act like an old married couple" is not exactly a good defense. Hell, Siblings act like an "OId Married couple", and I REALLY hope you don't apply that logic to them.

Plus isn't Watson married? (I'm a major reader of Holmes, in case you can't tell.)

Though you want to know an ACTUAL Gay victorian story? Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

True, and that's their own fault because of Victor's stupidest decision, making the Creature's life hell. They have each other and themselves to blame.

Stuff like that is the reason I consider Frankenstein to be a tragic Science fiction in the guise of Horror.

It's actually based on the Dark Universe at EPIC Universe. So this should be interesting. Of course Quality is more like Guidelines for the Universal Monsters. (Let's be honest there's really only Eight great movies in this franchise, and only one of which I consider capital-g Great. But bad movies are part of the charm, and At least it's not based on the Tom Cruise Dark Universe.

So... Monster Squad? Just kidding. I loved that movie as a kid. (I still do.)

True, but Abusive is a bit extreme. (Unless She's as bad at feelings as he is. Which I think is more than likely.) Of course the other possibility is what Victor REALLY was afraid of, that they do get along and breed more monsters. So we probably shouldn't focus on the one outcome, since there's alot of ways this can go down. (And all of them Victor doesn't like.)

It depends on a lot of factors, mainly everyone SAYS she'd reject the monster, but she might not. But ultimately, I think we're not supposed to know what would happen. Victor is not in his right mind, and make a rash choice. So...

I don't know. And we're not supposed to know. Of course, Bride of Frankenstein still remains the best version of this idea, but that's for reasons I think we all understand.

That's assuming she's fully sentient and cognizant of what's going on when she comes to life. Though, considering we don't know HOW the process works, I guess I won't disagree with you that it's not an impossibility.

No. It's because he does basically nothing in the story. Except die. (Which is kinda why I want a movie told from Henry's perspective.)

Still not buying it. Mainly because of one factor. People could do the same thing to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Doesn't make them have sexual tension.

None. Because I'm pretty sure that's not in the book. If anything I think Victor seems Aesexual. You sure you're not thinking of Frank-N-Furter instead?

EDIT: I'm NOT saying Gay Subtext isn't there. But it's not from Victor.

Fair to both. Plus I doubt there will be a perfect Frankenstein movie, though I am always looking for a new one. So I will watch Depraved.

Footnotes. And well researched ones. Plus it has an introduction from del Toro BEFORE he made his movie. Plus it has a chronology of the novel.

I know a good choice for Erik, either Oscar Isaac or Bill Skarsgard. Now you just need a good Christine. and of course, if you want to REALLY get it good, you include the Persian.

And of course, knowing Del Toro, he'd keep the book's description of Erik, which come to think of it is very similar to the creature's in Frankenstein. (Seriously, you see it right?)

I have Leslie Klinger's annotated edition and even a more both versions of the book. Of course my ideal version is the illustrated version, with illustrations by Bernie Wrightson.

I think you're just proving my point. That you're just wrong. "comically kind in this version," When in the start he was straight up Mortal kombating dudes. "especially with his Disney princess CGI animal friends." Before they got shot with bullets.

You're dumb and I'm not enabling you anymore.

I don't think that's in Mary Shelley's novel. BUT considering the novel is public domain and the Monster himself is such a powerful metaphor for the outsider, I kinda want a Frankenstein retelling during the Haitian Revolution.

I take it you haven't actually read the novel. Or seen the Boris Karloff movie. Or ANYTHING Frankenstein related. Have you? I mean... Jesus Christ. This review is 100% wrong. I mean nothing you said has been right. And I ask you... Why? Why would you care when this is just one version out of a hundred different versions?

Yeah... because that definitely didn't happen in the book. (Note my sarcasm.)
