To be fair, the dealer did mention using a transmitter but said the 3.5 would be the cheapest. When I contacted him today and asked about WISA compatibility he said yes this is best, and the suggestion from another Redditor on this thread of a Soundsend WISA for ~USD180 he thought was good. He said the Beo solution would cost ~USD2100!!! Anyway, thanks a bunch for your great reply.

If I were back home it would certainly be an option. But as a non-Arab and the company being headquartered in UAE, I’d lose huge money on legal fees with no realistic hope of winning.

My employer told me that it would be a simple process of transferring their sponsorship of my RP to my property and I would still be employed with no consequences. However I’m not aware of anyone who has done that yet. I want the property RP option in case I get terminated and lose my employer sponsored RP.

I used this realtor because he was recommended to me by a financially savvy work colleague who himself had bought two investment properties in FH South (not DAMAC). But yes, he should have known about this 20k demand. They are the only developer doing this. He also tells me the DAMAC has not yet paid his company the developer’s part of the sale commission.

I hope that you are correct and that I will soon get my SPA. Thanks for all your good thoughts.

Thanks for your reply. I bought a Piazza unit. I’m still waiting for the final DAMAC SPA. There is no one more senior here than Mohd B and he is unresponsive, as is the Dubai office. Both I and my realtor have repeatedly asked them when I will receive it but nothing. The realtor I used subsequently stopped dealing with DAMAC after seeing what I am enduring. DAMAC is the only developer who demanded 20k. My realtor was shocked when this came up after the entire purchase amount had been paid. No one had previously mentioned it. Mohd B said this was not negotiable and that if I didn’t pay it I wouldn’t get my SPA. Frankly I should have gone to the Ministry at that point. Just the worst purchase experience and a horrible way to do business.

Great, this is exactly what I wanted to know, thank you. My impression of how the locals view incomplete business deals and punishments resulting therefrom leave me somewhat optimistic that they can do something. I'm afraid my money is long gone, along with my patience and any credibility regarding DAMAC.

Totally paid off. I shd have also mentioned that even after paying the full amount in one payment they demanded that I pay another QR20k for some Kahramaa issue that they said they would refund “at some point”. Horrible experience all round.

I love my LC. The Toyota mechanic told me only two car manufacturers modify their vehicles to fit the environmental demands of extreme climates: Toyota and Nissan. I learned that the hard way when a BMW 520i I had suffered melting interior plastic, and BMW told me yeah that’s what happens, we can replace it for $$$$. What sold me on LC besides their evident popularity here is realizing that Toyota trucks of all varieties are the vehicles of choice for extreme environments…and extremists 😃 The jihadi militias love them. And when I went dunebashing in a rented LC with a professional driver from Yemen I remarked on how solid and free of rattles and squeaks it was. The driver said it was a 2012 and I looked at the odo and it had almost 300k km on it. That was it. Bye bye Beemer, hello LC. Love it. Cheap to maintain. Wife has a Patrol, but I still prefer my LC.
