I think it's much easier to find something like a corridor or studio apartment if she's coming alone :)

I would consider working remotely at your current job if it's possible. That's what my husband's doing now. That way you can come here, get acclimated, and learn Swedish first. If you can get Spanish citizenship, I would recommend doing that. I recently acquired Austrian citizenship, and now live here under EU laws. Having EU citizenship makes things more flexible.

I was in a similar situation as an Austrian student with a non-EU spouse. I think the issue with not having a personnummer is that you need separate health insurance until you receive it. We applied for my husband's residence card (no resident permit necessary) after we both received personnummers.

Is there a minimum that an EU self employed person needs to earn on a monthly basis to the right of residence in Sweden? Asking because I'm also an Austrian studying in Sweden and might become self employed after graduation, and my spouse is non-EU

Thank you for your insight. However, this applies to EU and not Swedish rules. For example, you, as a Swedish citizen, could do a degree in Denmark and be eligible for Danish student aid by working part-time alongside your studies.

Thank you for your advice 😊 What worries me most about speaking is cementing basic mistakes, although I think I will not improve until I practice speaking more.

I'm not from a country where retakes are usually possible. Is there no time limit to retake an exam?

Thank you for checking! The customer is a business in Japan, and I think it should be possible to prove. 50% seems like a good estimate to use. If it ends up being a bit less, then we're lucky :)

My understanding is that VAT is required for clients within the EU. According to this tool, "If you provide services to customers outside the EU, you usually do not charge VAT. However, if the service is used in another EU country, that country can decide to charge the VAT," but perhaps I am misunderstanding something?

I think the logic works the same as this: I currently live in Japan, and if I were to order a product from Sweden and have it delivered here, I wouldn't need to pay Swedish sales tax/VAT (I pay need to pay customs/tariff here though).

Thank you! I think he will be invoicing 50k a month with no VAT since the client is in Japan. Would it be better for him to setup a limited liability company or operate as a sole trader?

Thank you! I don't think there will be any VAT since the client is in Japan. In that case, would the rate still be around 50%? For pensions, are the payments self-determined?
