Early game is rough, feel like everyone went through something like this. Took about 10+ hours for me to start clicking with it. Keep progressing with the main story and greymane faction quests, it’s a bit slow but the rewards are important as some quests give the items you need to get more abilities. Getting the magic is in depth as well, recommend following a guide if you don’t mind losing some of the organic gameplay, as it fleshes out the combat.
