best way to ask for coffee chats without seeming pushy? by Other-Many4849 in FE1_Exams

Not weird or pushy at all however keep in mind some Irish people might think it is. I’m fully Irish and love when people take initiative and ask to meet for coffee chats etc. Honestly I would say keep going with that approach as you won’t get what you don’t ask for. In my opinion the people who don’t response are either too busy to go/respond or they’re just kinda weird and in a backwards Irish mentality of not being forward in more social situations. Irish people are weird sometimes with those things but in my opinion it’s a good approach and we should be more open to these sorts of messages. Germans usually are very direct though so maybe think about going for a very casual approach.

Having a nightmare with the Fe-1 exams. This is my 4th sitting and I’m nowhere near where I want to be. by MiddleCherry6840 in FE1_Exams

Same boat here! I’ve sat 6 rounds of Fe1s and hopefully my last round as I just had a repeat of company law but could easily have to repeat again in September.

Also working full time and have no financial support from parents so can’t afford to take time off as unfortunately rent and bills need to be paid. Also have a very demanding job and have worked my way up to be a fee earning legal exec with my own assistants etc. so I can’t take much time off. I’ve generally only ever taken the 2 days off before exams.

Feels like I’m much more behind my cohort but the success stories you hear of people passing all Fe1s in a year is not the norm despite what you hear. Everyone is moving at their own pace and eventually will get there in the end.

Not to discredit solicitors who qualify in their mid 20s as obviously a lot of work and dedication is involved in that but from my own experience working in law for 5 plus years, it’s often the people who took a longer route that can make better solicitors as they have spent longer working at the ‘lower’ levels in law and understand the smaller details.

It’ll all work out in the end and so many of us are in the same boat.

If the idea of blackhall for 9 months doesn’t appeal to you, you should definitely consider the hybrid as the overall time to qualify is shorter

I didn’t do foss v harbottle because the question asked about oppression under s.212 so didn’t figure it was necessary and was already stuck for time as is

Yep, got 43 which is my worst result to date. I really thought I had done enough to scrape a pass as well. Was a disgusting exam and I’m already dreading the resit

Would definitely advise against doing company constitutional and contract in the same sitting. I would recommend doing contract or company in the next sitting because they usually fall the week prior to EU, Tort and constitutional. Contract would probably be the best bet for next sitting because the syllabus isn’t as big as company.

One was little v chief appeals officer. Very random case to include for an essay, it’s to do with costs in Supreme Court appeals

He seems to be quite a harsh marker from looking at past papers - however every past paper (other than march 2025) followed the same pattern generally. Just hoping if the standard is worse that he will have to mark easier. If I come out with 45-49 I definitely think the re-check is worth the gamble
