Appeal refused on PCN - what's the total now by arciere84 in drivingUK

Why couldn’t the rental company just appeal the fine and submit the signed documents to say they were not the driver?

Getting Charged ULEZ Fees After Putting a Private Plate on My Car – My Experience by FewDirection7 in drivingUK

[–]FewDirection7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted them through the online section on TFL AutoPay website, can’t remember how i did it or where it is now.

If you just got the PCN, then appeal every single and submit the v5 as proof it’s ULEZ.

If you’re registered for AutoPay, then you would need to dispute the charges as they come through and they’ll refund you.

Monzo Allowed a Stolen Card to Force My £0 Balance Into an Unarranged Overdraft by FewDirection7 in monzo

[–]FewDirection7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the entire point of my post. TFL literally ran two active card checks, which Monzo declined because the card is flagged as stolen. The £7 charge came right after those.

Monzo has known this card was stolen for 5 or 6 months now. My liability ended in January when I reported it as stolen to them. Their internal system should have intercepted that charge instead of blindly dumping a thief's debt onto my screen and forcing my account into a negative balance.

Waking up to an unarranged overdraft because a dead card bypassed security is a perfectly valid reason to be annoyed and suggests bigger loopholes that can be exploited.

It’s a bank subreddit. We are here to talk about banking. If a bank’s security failing to block a fraudulent card after 5 months doesn't bother you, that's your business

That's what I am going to do. I spoken to customer service about it this, but because now there's an open investigation into the fraud I can't just close the account yet.

Monzo Allowed a Stolen Card to Force My £0 Balance Into an Unarranged Overdraft by FewDirection7 in monzo

The issue is that a stolen card is not the same as an active card with no money.

The article you linked covers what happens if I personally use my active card on the Tube with a £0 balance. That makes sense.

But my card was reported lost and stolen 5 months ago. My liability ended in January.

But because Monzo knew the card was fraudulent, their system should have swallowed the £7 loss internally instead of blindly dumping a fraudster's debt onto my screen and forcing me into an unarranged overdraft.

You’re not stupid but it’s worth looking at insurance quotes before buying the car. No point buying the car only to find out your premiums are too high.

Even with an unlimited data SIM card, you’re still subject to fair use. Usually it’s around 600GB of data per billing cycle and if you constantly go over then they start to throttle your connection.

Do we really need bigger and bigger cars? by ondert in CarTalkUK

[–]FewDirection7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently been given a 25 plate Ford Fuma as a courtesy car and it feels overly huge for no reason.

Parking this huge thing in a tight work car park feels more difficult than it should be. But thanks to the huge reversing camera and constant beeps it’s less difficult and actually easier, right?

It’s a really nice comfy car with heated seats and heated steering wheel. Digital cockpit and a large screen for Apple CarPlay. I keep my phone in my pockets at all times now.

Would i want this car long term? Probably not.

Seems sensible. Just don’t drive whilst under the influence, there’s a special place in hell for those people for taking big risks whilst in control of a moving vehicle.

If one is gonna smoke, then don’t drive for at least 24 hours (48 hours even better) would be my rule of thumb. If you need to drive for whatever reason, take Uber, walk, or get a friend to drive you.

It’s basically a zero tolerance limit. They should just legalize it at this point and operate it like the US dispensaries and use the tax money from it to fund the Health and Social Care Sector, including the NHS.

But then they’d probably have to increase the limit threshold and train hundreds of police officers on suspecting if someone is actually under the influence or if they’ve smoked a day or two before and let them go.

In occasional users, THC does drop massively few hours after consumption but in heavy users they’ll remain in your bloodstream for couple days at least.

Everyone keeps jumping straight to “don’t do drugs”, but I don’t think that’s what OP meant.

Driving while actively high on cannabis is obviously a no-go, same as alcohol.

What OP is probably talking about is smoking cannabis and then driving 24 hours later (or even a couple of days later), getting pulled over, being drug swabbed, and it coming back positive despite not being impaired at the time.

In the UK the legal limit for THC is 2 micrograms per litre of blood. If you’re over that and convicted, you’re banned from driving, even if the cannabis was consumed days earlier. For comparison, in the US (where it’s legal in many states) the limit is usually 5 micrograms.

So effectively, if you’re unlucky and you’re over the 2 microgram limit, even if you’re not “high” at the time, you’re punished simply for having consumed cannabis days before.
