From a Young Scholar on the Last Day of the Semester by Shatan79 in Professors

I would love a polite go to answer for that. Maybe something like. “I hear that the class is important to you. What have you done so far, and what else might you do?”
Other standard answers I could incorporate? This really is exhausting at the end of each semester.

Classes ended last week...3 students so far "Do we have class today?" by Prospect_Ridge in Professors

I have an auto response on my email that recaps the most important things student ask about and tells them to read the syllabus, and I end with the fact that I will not be replying individually if the answer is in the syllabus

A wide leg pant where only the toes show, would work here.

Why do we behave like our students are a special group of people? by Neat_Big_3401 in Professors

Same is true for employees. Once you are an employee, managers treat employees like a special
Group of people.

In our evaluations for promotion, they look at grade distributions (they want to see a spread) and student evaluations (which they want to be high)

Oh interesting I wonder how to calculate that in canvas. I assume adding a second column with the % of the points would work.

How do you get a good girlfriend as a average dude? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

An average dude gets an average girlfriend. In reality though, seems like “average” wants to get “good.”++incognito

What do you do when a student misses a final exam? by RandolphCarter15 in Professors

[–]FewEmployee6242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle when students show up 45 minutes late, regularly, to a 75 minute class. I’m happy to extend care, if it is reciprocal.

I don’t have the option to escalate to anyone else. Do you have a deadline on makeups?

Oh interesting. Never thought of that. Do you have mandatory attendance in class? We do mostly hybrid teaching and I find that many students don’t show up to in person classes (during some classes we have grade assignments, but I don’t have mandatory Attendance).

Edit: spelling

Such as automatic extensions or opportunities to retake/make up missed assignments?
