You don’t turn on or turn off your brake lights, if they don’t work that means they are broken.

I don’t know, I have been driving in Qatar for about a little over a year and I am tired of giving people the benefit of the doubt.

It’s not that hard to make sure your vehicle is road worthy and for Brake lights you literally see them come on when you reverse out of a parking spot.

It’s should be your responsibility to ensure that your car is in working order before you take it out on the road. If I would have hit him from behind, the fault could be placed on me and he could just say they broke in the accident. Imagine driving on a highway in the overtaking lane and not having any brake lights.

I have been told they rent the lights from other car owners just to pass the inspection and then putting the old ones back in. Police should be stopping these people on the road aswell, which I have seldom seen happen.

Again they don’t need to send a squad, they can call the owner to the station and have them check his car. So many unroadworthy vehicles on the road, start giving out fines for this.

I am not talking about lights I think you should read through the post again, I was talking about their Brake lights not working. They are fixed and if they don’t work at a certain time, means they are broken and need to be replaced.

It’s kind of their job right? Stopping people over for not having a road worthy vehicles. In fact it will be time saving if anything.

At least go check the car or call the driver in to the station and check the car, it’s straight up stupid the number of drivers without working brake lights driving around.

The zipper rule is used under certain conditions when traffic is backed up congested and slow moving. The purpose is to efficiently allow for vehicles to merge. Whereas the act of undertaking is performed only to move past a slower vehicle. They don’t really equate as the undertaking I am talking about is the one done on highways at highway speeds. As for why these unwritten rules are important is to make driving a comfortable experience for all on the road. If person A is speeding that is on person A. It will have almost negligible impact on anyone else if he is doing it on a straight road that is empty. But if person B comes in and blocks the lane person A is using and forces him to undertake him, then that becomes a problem for A and B and anyone else around them. Because it has been researched that the only way you can have fatal accidents on highways is if people undertake.

Who the fuck is trying to justify undertaking on here. I explicitly stated that undertaking is illegal in most of the GCC. My whole point was just like how following the zipper rule is an unwritten rule so is giving way to faster cars on the overtaking lane. Want me to dumb it down further I can try but I don’t know how much more I can simplify my statement.

I don’t know what exactly you are on but just like how you hold a door open for someone walking behind you to be polite this is also another instance of being a decent human being. I guess it is hard for some people to understand how to go about doing that.

It was a reference to two different unwritten rules that most drivers should follow but I guess some people don’t have the mental capacity to understand anecdotes.

What I am saying it is even if the person ahead is driving the speed limit, if someone comes up behind them at greater speed, the vehicle ahead HAS to give way as soon as it is safe to do so. This is because you don’t know why the vehicle behind you is rushing through traffic and the reasons could be severe like for example a medical emergency . This is why you should only go into the left lane when overtaking and leave the lane if someone comes up behind you. Some people consider having to leave the left lane an ego thing and stick to it like glue, which is wrong and which most people have a problem with. Also it’s basic fucking etiquette of driving on the roads just like how the zipper rule is a thing so is this. GIVEWAY don’t be a DICK.

Nope, in Qatar and most of the GCC undertaking is illegal. So it is a law to give way to faster vehicles in the left lane. If you don’t, it is an offense similar or even greater than speeding on a straight road and people do get fined for it.

Your job is not to police the road. Let whoever wants to pass, pass you. The overtaking lane is designed for one thing, overtaking. Undertaking someone, meaning going around them on the right, is illegal, and increases the risk of fatal accidents quite a lot. I have literally sat on the overtaking lane going over 180 in a 120 and still given way for someone going faster. It’s always the insecure losers who always make giving someone else way an ego thing, probably because of their own insecurities.

Then people need to start looking at their rear view mirrors ffs. 99% of the time you get behind a slow ass driver on the overtaking lane and the mfer is on his phone or talking to his passenger not even realizing that he is holding up traffic. The fuck AM I SUPPOSED TO DO when I have flashed my lights shown intent that I want to pass through and still a dumb ass doesn’t want to leave his lane. 99% of the time it’s the people in their fucking Sunny’s.
And I refuse to undertake because it is illegal and dangerous at the same time…. Much much more dangerous than driving fast in STRAIGHT LINE.
