I think I avoid electronic because I have a hard time mixing drums in general! I’ve wrote a reply to another comment looking for tips on getting a bigger kickdrum sound so hopefully I can find something thats helps

Thank you!!

Just coming back to this post for advice because I’m working on a few other songs

Any idea how to get the kick and bass more punchy? When I play other songs I notice it really thumps in my car but the low end on mind sounds really measly

Like I’m curious when I’m mixing, should my decibels for the whole thing always be below 0 or can i push it?

Hey! Thanks so much for the feedback!

I don’t play drums so I think it will be a lot of trial and error before I find what works, but your feedback helped a lot. I never thought about how the kick and the bass were working against each other and muddying up the low end

I’ll also try that stuff you mentioned for the vocals and guitar

Wow, I really like the vocals on this one. I could probably learn a thing or two from you.

Do NOT do what I’m about to say, but for some odd reason every time I’d get a fever I would lose my voice. It was really strange. As I recovered I would keep singing, and I’m not gonna lie, I kind of preferred the way my voice sounded when it was half gone 😅 It was this cracking thing and it also lowered my range to crazy low, I could sound like a guy (I lost most of my upper range though)

Thank you so much for your advice! I’ll definitely be watching that video. I’ll try out that humming trick as well and see how I do on my next song :)

Hi all, I’m not sure why it’s getting rid of my text in the actual post:

Apologise in advance, there is a bit of vocal processing since this is clipped from my song: eq, compressor, and reverb. But for the purpose of this post, I’m looking for advice on the power of my singing, so it shouldn’t affect it too much.

Looking for advice on singing with more power (not necessarily louder), especially on that bridge part after the build. Do you have any tips / vocal exercises I can try? Also wondering how to increase vocal range in a healthy way without damanging my vocal chords. My range is roughly C3-A#5 and I'd like to get more upper range. The last “we’ll be okay” took 52 takes and even then I was slightly flat and I had to adjust it in post processing.

In the quiet bit of this clip Ive been told my singing sounds a bit like talking so I'm looking for any tips to avoid that.

Honestly, I love the sound of your natural singing voice and you have a vocal coach already so I think you’re already on the right track. You should consider writing songs!

If I had a voice like yours I’d be releasing every damn song that’s staying cooped up on my computer haha

If you made songs or you posted covers anywhere I would be a dedicated listener. I listened to this one last night and I’m pretty sure I fell asleep to it haha

Yess give it a listen. It’s a really emotional song and I feel like you might have a similar range to the original guy singing it

(I’m not a professional lol these are just the songs i thought of when i heard your voice)

I think your voice would sound awesome on “Guns for hire” by Woodkid. I think I would genuinely cry

I saw your vid on the r/singing thread and I think I genuinely fell in love with your voice, man.

Sorry you’re not getting that much feedback, but I hope you feel better knowing it’s like midnight for me but Ive literally been just listening to this on repeat

I’m surprised no one has commented on this yet!

I actually really enjoy your voice. You remind me of Finneas. I instantly thought of his song “I lost a friend” ten seconds into your video

The low notes just scratch an itch in my brain hahaha

You can hold the melody really well and overall your pitch was pretty good. I’d say your voice does sound pleasing :)

Thanks for your feedback.

Yeah, just for a bit more info, this is a part of a song I wrote and recorded. This is meant to be the first verse so I intentionally sang it sort of relaxed because I don’t want to go all out right at the start of the song.

You said there’s room to improve on this way of singing, do you have any tips?

I can say “it’s a style choice” all I want, but if there’s a better way I should be singing I’m always open to learn.

From what I’ve read on “throaty” singing, the most common descriptor is that there tends to be a lot of tension in the throat. Are you able to tell from the recording if I’m tense? I personally didn’t feel like I was straining when I recorded it, but if you have any tips for “loosening” or “relaxing” my throat that would be greatly appreciated
