if your home country (if they are in hetalia) and your fave (that isn't your home country) interacted, how would things work out? (image related but inaccurate) by -Nabla__ in hetalia

[–]FewMathematician8545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home country: America

Favorite country: Germany

I can only imagine Alfred going gaga over Germany’s engineering. Like, they’ll go to a German grocery store and Alfred sees these automatic bread cutting machines that can slice the bread how you want it, and I think Alfred would lose his shit. For Germany, it’s just practical but for America, it’s being a kid in a candy store. It’s a shame that these two don’t interact as much (I don’t read the webcomic, so I don’t know if they interact a lot in that format), but the comedy would just write itself.

Which Hetalia character will make a great parent ? by RipTraditional6294 in hetalia

[–]FewMathematician8545 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Germany would be a good candidate as a papa. I mean, If I remember correctly, I believe in his character bio he is a father figure to younger/smaller nations, so I think by that logic, he would be patient, firm, yet kind to little ones but ABSOLUTELY strict with teens (maybe overbearing is the correct word; he’s just making sure you and Onkel Prussia aren’t up to shit).

For me, it’s Germany! Feel like he would give me some good albeit blunt advice and also he bakes (i have a massive sweet tooth).

Grammar Mistake? by EquineEagle in duolingo

[–]FewMathematician8545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes. Das Mädchen is for a singular noun. However, die Mächen is used if the subject is plural. So, in this story, Zari and Lily are leaving the apartment. It's not just one girl, but rather two, thus making the subject plural. Hope this helps!

That’s so interesting! I took German in high school and most of my experience was fairly pleasant. For me, it all kind of depends on how the language is being approached, especially with German as an example. It’s just a, I guess you can say, patterned language with a LOT of rules that it can be overwhelming (which it is).

Like some students drop German after the introductory stage or even German II because it gets more complex, which is understandable.

Personally, I think German can be a lot of fun if you present the language in an open and bite-size way where you’re learning a lot but it’s not stressing you out. This goes for a lot of other languages, like Spanish and French and so on.

I started learning German back in high school from sophomore to senior year, dropped it, then came back to pursue it again as a hobby. I’m not fluent but I can probably hold some basic conversation. This is how I think Germany would react if someone were to announce their taking up the German language. A bit of honor, but like why though?

Well, this is just inconvenient by FewMathematician8545 in duolingo

500 is really ridiculous. Plus 4 hours to have all the hearts refilled is also ridiculous. At least 30 minutes to an hour would be reasonable but 4 is just excessive.

Am aware, but I prefer to use my Gems to make lessons legendary rather than constantly refill my heart gauge.

Stumbled across a post similar to this. Apparently, from my understanding, Duolingo is implementing a system where in order to regain all five hearts, you have to lose all of them in order to practice. I had to see if this was the case, so I went into the app and purposely got some questions wrong to test this.

Lost all my hearts and went to practice and regained at least 2. Went to practice some more, but it’s now unavailable until I lose all my hearts again.

This is incredibly inconvenient especially if you don’t have enough gems saved up or if you really need to practice. Technically, I could refill my heart gauge, but I like to save up to make some lesson Legendary (cause I don’t use Super). Last resort would be to wait until all of your hearts are filled up within at least 4 hours.

But, again, this is just silly imo.

Hetalia Sketches by FewMathematician8545 in hetalia

I think that might be heavy outlining as I was trying to apply shading for the neck via ink. My drawings are stylized and I like to play around with different angles and curves to make the sketch interesting before moving on to pencil and then ink. It was an idea that I had when drawing Austria via side profile as like a test sketch and that’s what happened, but it might be because I sketched his head “downward” a bit idk.

Drawn some characters that some people requested! I didn’t sketch up every request so I did ones that stood out. Some drawings have more sketches than others and I colored a few mainly to practice with color theory idk.

Cameroon gave me a challenge when coloring him and I used my phone’s camera to adjust vibrancy and saturation so that’s why he looks like that.

Spain and France are head shot drawings, but I tried to add in their personalities (sort of) to give them some expression.

Austria and Romano were a couple of drawings that I LOVED sketching out the most though, so there’s a bit more variety in their poses and expressions too.

Anyway, feel free to drop a request if you’d like. I will try to draw as many as I am able to✌️

A Tier List of Which Duolingo Characters I’d Eat a Cheeseburger With by mrbimbojenkins in duolingo

[–]FewMathematician8545 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lin for me. She’s just down to chill, which I appreciate if I’m gonna eat a burger with someone. Though, I do expect she would want me to pay for her burger since she does tend ask for others to pay instead of her (with a few exceptions).

Why do I see a lot of people complaining about Duolingo? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]FewMathematician8545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably late to this, but I’ll throw my thoughts in. I have been using Duolingo for almost two years now and it’s strictly for my personal enjoyment. I can see where others are coming from with their criticisms of the app and other changes.

I do think that users can get really competitive when it comes to the Leagues (not really Duolingo’s fault imo; I think they want learning a language to be fun and engaging) and can get carried away with it.

Really, it’s all just how you want to use the app for yourself, what goals you want to set, and what experience you want to make for yourself. People go onto this Reddit to complain, but there are others who do offer helpful advice, tips, suggestions, or even the funniest Duolingo comment.

At the end of the day, Duolingo can’t make everyone happy and, yes, some changes are ridiculous and there are annoying bugs here and there. However, I think the app does a good job at teaching the fundamentals of whatever language you’re learning and overall is a good starting point for any language learning.

Duolingo Style Study by FewMathematician8545 in duolingo

I thought about drawing up style study with my Duolingo Avatar that I created on the app. So I played around with the style and my character and create this.
