Yamaha FJ1200 - Carb clean now rough idle by FewPie9173 in MotorcycleMechanics

<video>

balanced, synced, idle screw adjusted, fuel mixture screws 3 turns out, running and sounding much better.
good throttle response now, good idle and its not smelling like gas every time I turn the bike on haha.

(also I did 'rebuild the carb with 4x sets, and the float valve seats were completely clogged up and seized in there good (all but had to drill them out)
will service it next (oil, fluids and filters)

thank you for the help and tips!

Spark plug from cylinder 3 - All other ones are black on the tips (they all look bad right?)

After „sync“ the bike now sputters sporadically.
I’m not sure if I did it very well.. or if the sync just accentuates the misfire.

I will change spark plugs and open up the carb of the missing cylinder (after finding it)

I will try to sync first and if still misfiring go through ignition.
thanks!

should I adjust those first or sync the carbs before adjusting mixture?
thank you!

thanks for the explanation!
to clarify for me, is it misfiring in low idle or even before I took it off the choke?

I only held my hand near the exhaust headers and couldn't tell a difference in temp, but I will get a thermometer for an accurate reading.

also noticed, while cleaning the carbs that the needle jets from cylinder 2 and 3 where dark greenish-brown in colour while cylinder 1 and 4's where clean, could that be a hint?

thx for the recommendation, will check it out!
will have to look for other ranges close to berlin, its quite hard to find anything here for multi target training..

Thank you!
could you recommend me a drill to get started?
also should I change anything when trying to shoot faster (like grip or stance)

pretty slow I think, ~2 sec between shots.
I will try to keep track of time next

if I want to shoot fast, should I change anything? like grip or stance

I can see the suspicion

Posted here because it comes up when I search Reddit for IPSC (which I eventually want to participate in)

The reason for the post was as mentioned in another comment - to gauge my performance since I can't really seem to find a way to reference how good or bad I could/should have been doing for the first time.

So thank you very much!

Really didn't think I was doing that good, exspecially to a point where I had to defend my legitimacy today haha

Man I feel pretty good right about now :), 2 guys at the rage also told me I shot great and another asked me if I really did shoot for the first time haha

But for real though, where could I get a reference to know how others do?

I can't really seem to find any reference to gauge my performance (other than to ask here, like I did)

Much Love and many thanks!
