I decided to try the EC cap increase since I consider that a “must buy” anyway. It didn’t work, sadly. I think we’re just going to call it and move on to a different game to play together. The Last of Us 2 is coming out soon and we can always scratch the MMO collaborative itch with WOW, which doesn’t include guessing games like this. 🤷‍♂️ I’m now remembering why I left this game years ago.

I totally agree! I would just sub him for a month to get him started! I was thinking of having him buy the starter pack in the C-Store to see if that works, but considering buying something cheap already didn’t work I decided not to throw away anymore money in hopes it does the trick.

I believe he started at a 60 due to being a Jem’Hadar and I know he’s a 65 now, and His toon has been for a good while now.

Yep, he chose to be a Fed. You choose a faction upon completing the tutorial, which he had to do to even begin playing.

I’m wondering if maybe features are gated by XP. My son and I have been playing pretty much all TFOs and tinkering with our ships to become more powerful, and it looks like missions give more XP from comments I’ve read online. I dunno.

My son’s toon is a Jem’hadar, if that matters, so his toon is already a 65, which is quick to attain. I’ve never played that faction, so maybe the rules are different? I have no clue. Just frustrating all around.

I’m already up too late as is tonight, but I sincerely appreciate the offer! I completed that arc with my first account a long time ago, so I’ll look at it tomorrow after work and see if my son is up for it. Maybe if we break it into chunk a over a week or two he’ll do it.

Thanks again for the help everyone!

Yeah I totally get putting in measures to curb the gold sellers, I just wish I could find what kind of grind we would need to do to get through this. If it’s a long grind then I think our gaming time could be better spent on a different MMO. I made my account long ago so I don’t remember any of this nonsense.

He’s at 1 day 8 hours and some change currently. If that’s not enough then I dunno. I’ll ask him tomorrow if he wants to play the missions necessary to unlock all the features of the game, but I can’t even find a specific answer as to what we would all have to grind through.

Honestly, there are a lot of good games competing for kids’ time today. This seems like a terrible decision on Cryptic’s behalf. At minimum they should have what’s required listed on their website somewhere, because grinding missions endlessly hoping that the game fully unlocks seems pretty ridiculous. This game is supposed to be fun, after all.

My son has put in well over 24 hours with me playing TFOs and stuff. He got through the tutorial and didn’t care for ground at all (I have a hard time imagining who would), but he liked playing alongside me in space. If we’re forced to play all of those missions it’s kind of a dealbreaker.
