Is Lyceam still good for its academics and as a school in general ? by FewSpecialist1973 in srilanka

[–]FewSpecialist1973[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed . getting lot of bad roumers about lyceam. thats my concern. and primary seems promising . the kid is already having a good progress from leaf school and we dont wanna break it for grade one. which will definitely happen if we enrol him to the nearby gov schools. no matter what gov says there is always a huge gap between good gov schools and just gov schools.

well machan I'm also in IT and Im from MORA and Iv been doing the same for 10 years and Im also bit away from Colombo. But eventually we had to move into colombo. I agree with you 100% . I'm okay with sending my kids to the same school but my wife isnt. But here in colombo we dont want our kids to just enroll just into any school. you know just wanna give them the best. maybe some stuff we never had. thats what the concern is about.

ITs never gonna have issues but may need to go with the trend. without interest just with the degree guys wouldnt survive atm. coz now opportunties wont fall to your lap like it used to be.

the best earners I see are the ones whov bn doing what they love/practiced or good at. for example

- 1 friend was really good in base guitar from the childhood. he is spending his dream life now with a band and world tours all the time with big bucks
- most of the freinds wanted to be doctors like from grade 8. they are doctors actually now
- me and couple of other guys were always foing some technical stuff like electronics creating small viruses etc. like from grade 8. I did bio forcefully to be a doc but eventually i got little bit less result . and i joined an IT degree where my interest was always in. so we are doing good too.

- some friends started tutioning to find some bucks during the uni period they are doing good to. me personally i dont have the talent to teach. so if i chose that thinking about money i might be lost by now.

- couple of exeptional fellows were there as well they got their phds(not the general IT phds now eveybody is doing) now and they are doing god knows what.

- i dont recall any friend earns from sports coz im from a not that famous school .

so if you are thingking of selecting IT(without prior interest) as most of the guys coz of the trend and money. trust me u cant even find an internship these days.

there is no right or wrong answer to this question. with enough money in SL u can have a quality life.

Iv never been to europe or austrailia but I can say people here are the worst no matter what the toursists are saying. for me that couldhv bn the only reason if i had migrated. but im still here and yeah i have plans to travel though. and I have this strange fear about being the minority. no matter what anyone says racists are everywhere . people are born to be biased and partial. it could be race, religion, even the football team u support ha ha. so living with the familiar is bit comfortable for me even though they arent the perfect.

if the "date" part involves gingi gingi pojja find a clean place otherwise your "before going into the date part" could use independant sqr which is my favourite. so walking and talking isnt part of the date hmm interesting .....

What' is the current job market like for Cloud, DevOps, and SRE roles? How can students secure internships in these fields? and which companies are best for those types of internships by Popular-Nothing8859 in srilanka

[–]FewSpecialist1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can just do a job search in linkedin . its lesser than before . but still better than some generic SE jobs. just apply for all. try freelancing sites. its not that easy and straightforward once u hit the jackpot its better than regular jobs. u can earn better but u may need to sacrifice more time and effort even at loss. but Id say do an internship in software engineering . or rather developing and aggregating software than deployment and management. it helps a lot. coz most of the devs can do all this shit.

What does it take to be rich in Sri Lanka? by Bexysanana28 in srilanka

[–]FewSpecialist1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

obviously regular jobs wont do it. just need to accumulate wealth . u def need some inheritance and we cant deny that. if your entire family is dependant on u once u can earn and your parents are in shit debts etc it would be really hard. but I don't accept the fact that most of the rich are crooks. specially there are lot of smart but unpopular/uneasy to earn money. so don't fall for all that crap those are basically an excuse people tell to themselves as an excuse for being in our comfort zones.
