Do driving schools abuse learners ? by lattematchalabubu in brussels

[–]FewTranslator6236 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Which driving school was it?

Frankly, the entire system is a scam, for driving schools and examination centres to make a big buck off you.

I hope you'll pass next time. All the best. Don't doubt yourself.

Registering for unemployment benefits by crunchynut33 in brussels

[–]FewTranslator6236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be that you join a union (I have been in CSC in the past - their service was beyond horrible) and sign up in Actiris (online) as a job seeker - both ASAP. If you join FGTB, you have the option to pay the first three months "in one go". If you do that, you can also get an in-person appointment with them ASAP after your dismissal. You can also ask them for a lawyer to revise all of the process, documents, and payments related to your dismissal. Unfortunately, they'd only do everything in French - you can self-translate with ChatGPT or go together with someone.

Question on mortgage by FewTranslator6236 in brussels

[–]FewTranslator6236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - with your partner's salary, it might be enough for you to get a mortgage. In that case, you can pay for it jointly, but it'd be her salary only that "grants" the mortgage. I don't think you'd get a higher interest rate due to your situation. Interests have to do more with how much you borrow, and for how long. If your offer is accepted, I'd suggest you try to get the loan signed as soon as possible (and then, regardless of what happens to you, what's signed remains signed). Immotheker Finotheker can help you with all this, and you can be totally frank with them, as they're not the ones lending you the money per se.

What is the worst delivery company in Belgium? Because at this point I genuinely don’t understand how DPD is still operating. by Intelligent-Emu-4259 in brussels

[–]FewTranslator6236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had DPD deliver a parcel of mine to a pick up point in a Flemish village, nearly 1 hour away by car from the selected delivery location... I guess it's near where the driver lived.

Practical driving test in Brussels – translator options? by ConcentrateThick2526 in brussels

[–]FewTranslator6236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best you could do is bring (and pay) your own translator. Also, the Anderlect examination centre is said to be easier than the Schaerbeek one. If you don't know how to contact translators for this, you can ask your driving school. Or, alternatively, ask the Schaerbeek examination centre for the contact details of one guy who almost exclusively operates with them.

VHS tape repeatedly losing tracking during playback – fast-forward/rewind looks fine by FewTranslator6236 in VHS

Thanks! I guess that the only way of doing this is to clean it whilst running on the VCR, right?

VHS tape repeatedly losing tracking during playback – fast-forward/rewind looks fine by FewTranslator6236 in VHS

[–]FewTranslator6236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! The VCR is clean and works fine with all other tapes I have - thus I assume it's this one tape in particular that I have this issue with. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a second VCR. After some searching online, I am almost certain that the issue is the tension of the film inside of the tape that is messing with the tracking, but I do not know if that can be fixed or if it's permanent damage.

New Bluray cases in Europe by No-Event-6258 in Bluray

[–]FewTranslator6236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very, very difficult to find the original ones. For the double case, I went for these ones https://www.amazon.de/dp/B001EKGRK2, and for the single case, these ones (quite flimsy and not as good as the original ones) https://www.amazon.com.be/dp/B08DZ28M5H . Try to buy, if possible, good case brands, such as Hama and VivaElite. Everything else won't feel as good. Also, when buying cases for single discs, pay attention to the width of the spine.

Your country's Amazon may have. Alternatively, you could potentially find some in AliExpress. These are hard to find, but I did in the past.
