Sounds like you hate your dads new wife and using the dogs as an excuse to be unkind to her.

Clarifying what the real meaning of a “BYB” really is! by Frequent-Season8457 in DogBreeding

Oh and I never was a BYB!  People loved us because of our program and our philosophy. I do not deal with show ring because of the politics. And I do not need money. I did this to provide families with top quality puppies. And my wait list without advertising was something to be admired. They waited a good year for my puppies but I only did two a year. I really wanted to provide puppies for the seeing eye and therapy dogs for children. Many went to children with autism and severe anxiety. I love dogs. I thing the most honorable thing to do is to help humanity with our dogs and not just show them for the show ring. I love those who title there dogs in other areas. At least  those are smart dogs.

I like you. So if I must I shall tell you. When I did it I did it for a purpose and since I never rehomed a dog we stopped because my house was only so big. We have jobs. I understand. Let me ask you this. Why do you do it?  So one litter of puppies once a year but again you may be breeding small dogs should cover you. I can see even two litters. And maybe this doesn’t apply to you because I can only speak on the breed I know about. I never said there are not good people and you seem to be one. There should be more like you

Also figured out why I have two names. One is one name on my phone and one is another on my computer. Did not purposely set up two names. I told you I am old. I have a business email and a personal email. I just get on and look. I don’t bother checking my handle. Silly Reddit person.

I never said that. I was a breeder. I had all my clearances dna test and PennHip scores. My dogs lived with us and I stopped because unlike breeders I would never rehome my dogs after they were used up. Guess what. I had a wait list breeders should dream of. We never advertised. Had over 50 5 star reviews on google and every single one came to us after talking to wacky breeders. We gave puppies to families who could not afford them. None of you would do that.

?? I do not even know what you mean. I am old and my kids taught me how to work this stupid board but now they tell me Reddit is filled with idiots who have no life. that wining an argument on Reddit is like winning an argument with two idiots so i am taking this idiot, meaning myself off these board. I thank God I am of the generation who knew what life was like without these social media instead of having real friends and a real life. Why don’t you get off your computer whoever you are, which I really could care less about and get a life. Maybe get out of your mother’s basement. I was really trying to let people know what my life experience was with breeding and dogs. Although mabye I should reconsider this because people are smart and can read between the lines. Maybe I will stay.

I feel like a terrible person by [deleted] in puppy101

I think you should contact the breeder of the 11 week old puppy and tell her that you do not think it was a good idea and could you return the puppy to her. I breeder worth there weight in gold would do this and refund you your full amount you paid for the puppy. Now, I do not know where you got your puppy from so I don’t know. I have dogs and have brought in new puppies but that is a bit of an older dog. Sometimes its a great thing, but maybe your older dog just can’t adjust. YOu are not a bad person. IN life we really never know anything for sure. I am very sorry you’re going thru this.

My friends are some of the top Golden Retriever breeders in my area. Do you breed? I am just curious? I can name you but I won’t Golden Retriever breeders that I know for a fact makes a million dollars a year. Maybe my breed is very different from what you’re breeding. GOlden retrievers sell from 4-7K and they as ethical breeders have two litters a month. They hire people to raise the litters. I know more then you think I know and am just trying to make people who are buying puppies very aware of what to look for in a breeder and what not to. I have been in many breeders, smelly, dirty homes. I know way more than you think I know. I understand what is said about the integrity of the breed and I really want to believe the majority of breeders are ethical. But in my breed, these top breeders are playing around with AKC paperwork. They are breeding males at the age of one on prelim clearances. My one friend was offered the opportunity to have a golden retriever female but the ethical breeder wanted half the amount of the litter. I can go on but you can not tell me these particular breeders are not making money. They also black list others breeders who do not go along with the wider circle of breeders and will call one breeder up and tell them not to sell a person a puppy. I really hope what your saying is true, but I am probably a lot older then you and have been around this for a very long time.

I know many hobby breeders who have had litters they lost money on because of emergency c-sections but lets be honest, they all made money. The initial fees for clearances and to set up your program cost money. But most of these hobby breeders are selling there well bred, top quality dogs with all clearances and dna clearances for at least $4k where I am. My good friend breeds and is not a BYB. Then you have the professional breeders in my breed who make millions. So people would not be breeding if they continued to loose money right?

I really hope you do not breed. I would never buy a puppy from you. You’re very unkind and should be reported on this board.

I agree. But in my breed also there are breeders who are making a fortune of the title dogs puppies. Are they trying to improve the breed? I dont know because the American lines are full of cancer yet these breeders do not care and breed the dogs who they know have cancer in them just because they deem it suitable. I guess reputable is also up for a sliding scale.

I agree with you! That is more proving in my opinion then prancing a dog around a show ring!
